Urnex Dezcal™ Powder is specifically formulated to effectively descale hot water tanks and components of coffee and espresso machines by removing mineral deposits that clog and impair brewing equipment. Dezcal™ allows machines to perform at optimal levels and can also be used to maintain faucets, spray heads and milk systems (although we recommend using Rinza to get rid of milk residue). This non-toxic, biodegradable and safe descaler comes in a convenient powder form that dissolves in water. Works great for descaling your kettle!

    • For use on Commercial Boilers and Heating Elements of Coffee and Espresso Equipment
    • 900g (31.7oz) container
    • Manufactured in USA
    • Contains Citric acid and Sulfamic acid
    • Not for use on Aluminum
  • We recommend descaling on all espresso machines be done by professional technicians only as in most cases boilers need to be removed for soaking. Rather than relying on descaler, we recommend that you regularly test your water, or use water with a constant hardness of ~50ppm to limit scale build up. One option is using Third Wave Water combined with the appropriate water source as directed.

    1. Add 100g (3.5oz) of powder for each 2 litres (1/2 gallon) of lukewarm water.
    2. Stir to dissolve.
    3. Hold solution in vessel for up to 30 minutes.
    4. Empty the solution directly and do not run through a brewing cycle until fully emptied and rinsed.
    5. Rinse all parts thoroughly.

    For drip coffee makers:

    1. Dissolve 28g (1oz) of Descaling Powder into 1000ml (32oz) of lukewarm water.
    2. Pour the descaling solution into the machine's water reservoir.
    3. Brew a full tank of the descaling solution and discard.
    4. Refill the water tank with fresh water and brew a full tank. Repeat this step two more times to clear the machine of any descaling solution.

More practical

I have a Bambino and I can say getting this is better than individual sachets sold by Breville in terms of value.

Cool cleaning product

It does the job for my bezzera bz10 not sure if it works the same way with other machines out there that have water tanks. Only thing with “descaling” using dezcal is that it shouldnt make you think that you can skip the proper thorough descaling that a technician would usually do for you. Major part of the most espresso machines maintenance is removing the boiler and soaking it for several hours and deszcal doesnt obviously allow you to do so!!

Super easy to use!

Just use some warm water and mix the powder out to dissolve as instructed by volume on the label.
And run the cycle however it is your machine does it
Easy to use!!

Great descaling product

Descaling is really important, especially with hard water. I have cleaned my machines regularly, but my sister had not. She thought her Breville machine was broken, as it was making a loud buzzing noise as something was blocking the solenoid valve. However, I descaled it thoroughly for her using Cafiza, and now her machine is working good as new. A little bit of Cafiza goes a long way.
