Very niche

I bought this scale primarily because it fits perfectly under my Flair Pro 2. It is the only scale I am aware of that fits perfectly. I also use it to weigh things where 0.01 of a gram actually matters (e.g. health supplement powder, jewelry such as rings, stuff like that).

The scale is beautifully built, I have no complaints about build quality. The material feels great (just like the lunar), and I really enjoy using it. The carry case was also a very neat touch, making it better for travel (if you need a travel scale that can only weigh 500g).

Due to its size and sensitivity, it is very prone to disruption from shaky tables.

I have tried to use it as an espresso shot timer. It works well for this but does not really have any advantage over my Acaia lunar. 0.01g increments don't really matter in this setting.

However, my biggest complaint is its 500g weight limit. I was hoping I could use it as a travel scale with my AeroPress, but it runs out of weight quickly. Ceramic mugs also take up most of the weight, much less when they are full of 300g of water. I get that there are tradeoffs in every product, but this is a clear drawback of this scale. It is clearly not the right scale for most people; most people will want the lunar.

Excellent scale, but not quite perfect

I'll start by saying that I love it and would buy it again. ...but given the price you should consider well before buying.

The build quality and aesthetics are phenomenal, and the carry case is clever and convenient. If you need a sturdy high precision scale to pair with your manual lever or other machine with a limited area under the group, and especially if you will travel with it, it's excellent.

The settings can be configured on the scale itself, which I love to see since not everyone can or wants to rely on an app for everything. You will need to consult the manual, though, as the 7-segment display makes for awkwardly abbreviated menus. I also like that you can disable modes that you won't use so that you don't need to toggle through them in operation. For instance, I use mode 1 for weighing my beans and mode 3 for pulling my shots, and so I simply turned off mode 2.

The apps are... Not great. If you're used to the sort of software that's made by really good *hardware* companies, that's about what you get. Better apps could really tie it together, and I hope they revamp them. They mostly work, and they're ambitious in scope, but they're not a pleasure to use like the scale itself is, and they don't feel polished. Essentially, they feel like they were designed by engineers instead of designers.
The good news though is there are official and unofficial APIs on GitHub for Android, iOS, JS, and Python, so we may see third party options.

The battery life is good and the scale can be used while charging, which is fantastic. I don't mind that it uses microUSB, but if you will be travelling with it, that's something to keep in mind if the rest of your gear has moved on to USB-C.

Having a splashproof scale was a major requirement for me, and in that this is great. However, keep in mind that it's only waterproof from above. It won't get killed by a spill, but if your machine drips a lot it won't necessarily make cleanup any easier. Because the top she'll extends all the way down, surface tension can lead to liquid pooling around the edges. It's best to mop up a spill by dabbing with an absorbent towel first before picking it up.

In conclusion, this is not a perfect product, but it is a very good product, and there isn't anything else quite like it on the market. If this review sounds overly negative, it's only to make sure you make an informed decision. If it sounds right for you, I highly recommend it!
