  • When Chemex set out to design an electric kettle, they wanted it to reflect and honour the past, present, and future of the company. The hour glass shape that you know and love is front and centre. The gooseneck spout is curved and pointed to make it just as easy to do slow and precise pour-overs as it is to quickly pour hot water, whether for a French press or to cup your freshly roasted coffees. Designed for maximum comfort and ergonomics, the handle allows you to make countless pour-overs in your early morning shift. With a mix of glass, stainless steel, and matte black accents, the kettle resting on top of the induction base has both a sci-fi lab and space rocket feel - getting ready to launch Chemex into a new frontier of coffee brewing!

Differing itself from the electric kettles pack, the Chettle uses an induction base. This allows your water to be heated to the exact degree, very quickly and efficiently. The induction base also allows all electrical components to be located in the base - so that your kettle is lighter and you can run your kettle in the dishwasher and not worry if it takes an accidental dunk in the sink! Another level up with the Chettle is that it has a big capacity - 1.2 L / 40.5 oz! Chemex wanted to ensure that you didn't have to refill your kettle when you want to do big batch brews! Hooray! Go Chettle!

Good kettle

the glass aesthetic arr nice.
However I expected it to boil fail way faster (like the stagg).
Thats wasn't the case.
Temperature unit chamge was a bit finicky

First off, let me say that the customer service at 8 Ounce is beyond stellar. I will purchase any future supplies with 8 Ounce just because of their customer service. They go the extra mile for you, which is very much appreciated.

The decision was between this Chemex and the Stagg, and if I had to do it again, I would still be very undecided. Here are my thoughts:

LIKES:
- Aesthetics. Love the look of this kettle more than the Stagg.
- Ergonomics. The neck and handle make for a great pour. Those features appear to be almost identical on the Stagg.

NOT SO MUCH:
- Noise. The fan on the base is too loud for my liking. And it gives off an "electric" smell.
- Input Panel. This took some getting used to. It hardly responded to my finger touches, and I was about to return it based on that. But I figured out that it works perfectly when using my thumb - the fingerprint part as opposed to the tip. I guess it needs more surface area from a finger to respond.

Overall I'm happy with it. If the fan was less noisy, and the unit didn't give off that smell, it would be "neck and neck" with the Stagg and would earn 5 stars from me.

Good looking kettle, but not worth the price tag

I am replacing my Electric Hario V60 kettle. While the design and look of the kettle are what you would expect for a Chemex product, I'm a bit disappointed based on the price. The few key items that make me feel this are as follows:

- While the Chettle is boiling, it very often (about 2/3 of the time) 'burps' water from the gooseneck. I am careful to have the water level below max and above min. I would love to know if other owners are experiencing this as this could result in splashing something on the counter or worse, burn someone.

- The buttons are a bit temperamental. This may be something that self corrects, as I learn the sweet spots, but something to note. In addition, I would have thought it would be easier to adjust temp or add the keep warm option once you've started the boil process, but haven't been able to manage. Lastly, the base is quite loud for an induction appliance.
