Red Geisha, Washed Anaerobic:
Our Red Geisha is one of three anaerobic geishas that were purchased direct trade from Abu Coffee in Boquete, Panama. Red Geisha is from Lot 44-10W, which is a washed coffee that goes through a double phase anaerobic slow dry (48 hours anaerobic dry process, then fully hand-washed with clean mountain water, and dried on raised beds for 15 days). This results in a mouthwatering cup with notes of Red Grape, Mango, Lemongrass and undertones of Marshmallow and Jasmine.
José Luttrell, Abu Coffee
We met José Luttrell from Abu Coffee earlier this year and were blown away with his work ethic. José is a man on a mission. A hustler. A doer. He makes things happen. He's definitely got some pirate in him. 🏴☠️ Just 2 days after chatting with him on the phone, he met up with us and arranged a cupping of his legendary geisha coffees. We immediately purchased the coffee via direct trade via our sister company WE THE ORIGIN.
Abu Coffee was named to honor the memory of José Guillermo Luttrell Tedman, a third generation coffee producer from the Cañas Verdes region of Boquete, Chiriquí in Panama. "ABU" (short for Abuelo, grandfather in Spanish) is what his grandchildren used to call him. His dream was to achieve the best cup of coffee with the highest standards of quality. Abu Coffee continues to live this dream by producing some of the most incredible and unique coffees available not only in Panama, but globally. Abu Coffee is a regular in the legendary Best of Panama competitions with four 90+ scoring coffees in the top 15 spots in the past 4 years.
