So easy to use

For starters, the valve doesn't leak and cleanup after is just a breeze. I personally use a grind just a notch or 2 courser on my virtuoso to what I use in the V60-01 and it produces a great clean cup every time.

everything you love about the v60 and clever but with better control, easier to clean, and a valve that doesn't leak

Great dripper for a newbie!

My old B&D $20 percolator died and I was ready to take the plunge into more interesting home brewing methods, but wanted to take baby steps as I am still not confident using scales and recipes, etc. I was trying to decide between a french press, clever dripper, v60 pour over dripper. I also wanted something that could be done easily, quickly and without a lot of messy clean up, early in the morning. Something quick but relatively fool proof. That's when I found the Hario Switch. I preferred this option to the clever dripper because I liked that the lever allows you to control when the coffees draws down. I also prefer that the Hario dripper is glass and will not leach any chemicals. The silicone base was also a selling point. It is only 4 parts, very very easy to clean and assemble/disassemble and the glass and silicone pieces are dishwasher safe if you need to sanitize once in a while. Once I figured out the right amount of coffee:water to make a good cup, the rest was easy. It's also nice and compact and doesn't take up too much space. Will even sit atop my giant morning coffee mug! Considering the higher quality and sturdiness of materials, it was worth the extra $$ for me vs purchasing a clever dripper. Love it! Could not find it in stock anywhere in the GTA before the holidays, but Eight Ounce got some in and considering it was holiday season, shipping was relatively quick. Package arrived well packed. Great purchase. Very happy!

Exactly what we needed

I have used the Clever Dripper, but don't think it's all that clever. The valve is poor, and sometimes leaks, and the actuation requires placing the unit on a cup or removing it. It's also difficult to clean.

The Switch has addressed all these concerns. The valve mechanism is brilliant in its simplicity. This means I don't see this ever breaking unless I remove the lever and smash it with a hammer. The single piece of molded silicone makes it easy to disassemble and clean. There are only four parts: the glass V60 body, the silicone base, the lever, and the ball bearing.

Having a lever gives you the ability to keep the unit on your cup, and retain the water while pouring your bloom. This makes it possible to stir the bloom without the difficulty of your water draining away before you can stir it properly. Closing the valve during a pour allows you to better control the agitation of the grounds bed. I have had excellent cup after excellent cup.

I was happy to pay the international shipping to the US to acquire one of these, since no one sells them here yet.

Hario Switch

I love coffee, and I get excited when new brew method variations come to light. The Hario Switch allow more control and manipulation during the brew process. No matter the recipe I consistently enjoy a remarkable cup of coffee.

I use Kalita,V60, Clever, Aeropress, and Chemex, I really enjoy the Hario Switch brew process and performance. No Bad Cups!
