ABOUT THE BAROIDA ESTATE, FILTER
We are very pleased to introduce for the second year in a row a pioneer of the Papua New Guinea coffee industry. Baroida Estate is a large 220 hectare estate founded in the 1960s by New Zealander Ben Colbran. At that time, the government encouraged the expansion of foreign agriculture to the country's highlands. Today, Ben's son, Nicol, runs the plantation with his 2 sons Chris and Rhett.
The estate is divided into 29 plots on which only one variety grows per lot. Although the varieties are mixed in the end, each lot is harvested and processed separately. The one we have selected is made up of Arusha, Bourbon and Typica varieties and is washed using a disc pulper followed by a 36 hour fermentation and a drying on raised beds.
The silky texture and the complexity are the attributes that charmed us in this delicate cup. It reveals dominant flavours of white tea and pear as well as sweet notes such as vanilla and macadamia nuts.
