    SNAP Coffee was started by a young coffee entrepreneur named Negusse Weldyes back in 2008 as the laws in Ethiopia started their winding path to transparency, and it now owns and operates washing stations in the Gedeo zone and partners with washing stations in Guji and West Arsi. They’ve hired the Coffee Quality Institute to help raise quality standards at their washing stations, and apply what they learn to the new washing stations that they buy. This lot comes from Chelbessa, the largest coffee growing area in Gedeb. More specifically, it comes from Danche, a washing station bought by SNAP in 2019. It’s a bit higher in elevation and less centrally located than their first station, so as of now it serves fewer farmers (only 500 or so this season). That doesn’t mean the coffee isn’t spectacular, however! This lot is full of those classic flavours we love about Ethiopian coffee: Explosive floral aromatics, ripe and juicy citrus fruits, all buoyed by black tea and spices underneath.
