Elias and Shady Bayter produced this Yellow and Red Caturra lot at El Vergel in Tolima. A sugar cane ethyl acetate washed decaffeination process gently removes caffeine while preserving the bean's natural sweetness, yielding a comforting cup with notes of banana bread, apple, and dark chocolate.

Stands on its own

I tried three decaf coffees recently, and this one is the only one that impressed me when served black. I am still a newbie at picking up tasting notes, so I cannot really say whether I notice hints of banana bread and such. What I do know is that it tastes good and has a balanced flavor that holds up well on its own. Unlike the others, it does not need milk to come alive, making it a solid decaf option whether you drink it straight or with a splash of milk.
