Tasting Notes: Plum, Raisin, Brown Sugar

This delicious decaf coffee from El Vergel in Tolima, Colombia, is a blend of Red and Yellow Caturra varieties. Utilizing the Sugar Cane Process, the coffee is washed with Ethyl Acetate (E.A.) to remove caffeine, preserving its lovely, clean, and sweet flavor. Good decaf

Was recommended by the coffee expert in the cafe. Well worth it

Easy 'crowd pleaser' decaf

We exclusively used this bag for espresso, and it's amazing in a flat white. We found the leading note is toasted brown sugar, but I also found dried apple and plum notes underneath that help tie it all together (after resting ~24-30 days post-roast). Such a great 'crowd pleaser' decaf, especially at this price point for 300g!

Very balanced experience

Based on my grinder at the time (DF-54) and for Pour-over/BIRD process, I would describe it as on the stronger, thicker side with a very balanced experience but no delicacy or precision on tastes. Very Good. Need to now try it in the EF-1 with Turbo Burrs. Perhaps it will taste even better.

Runs flat

Long time Hatch customer, tried their usual lineup as well as occasionally the premium ones - this one runs flat, as in both taste and aroma. It's light enough to standout from a sea of mediocre decaf but lacks the characteristic from this origin. Makes a good (oat) milk drink though.

A rare miss for me, from Hatch.

I have had absolutely great success with almost everything that I’ve ordered from Hatch. A variety of coffees, and I’ve loved them all. The last decaf I bought from them was incredible. (El Paraiso Decaf - Anerobic) This one, I love tried a number of different brew methods and haven’t loved it. I taste the brown sugar notes, but not in a way that works for me.
