The Able Disk Coffee Filter is a reusable filter designed to be used with the AeroPress®. This allows more oils and a fuller bodied cup of coffee when used with the AeroPress®. The Disk eliminates the need for paper filters, which is especially convenient when travelling.

The Standard Disk produces a fuller body cup of coffee with a bit more fines, is thicker, and should last for many years, even with heavy use. The Fine Disk produces a very sweet, clean cup of coffee with very little to no fines. It is thinner (1/3 of the Standard) and should be handled with care as it can easily bend or damage. If you can't decide which Disk to get, both are available as a set!

Customers praised this reusable metal filter as a "must-have" that "works perfectly" and delivers fuller-bodied coffee with more oils than paper filters. Most found it durable and easy to clean. Some concerns included minor sediment, cleaning difficulty with stuck grounds, and one customer noted newer versions use thinner steel with larger holes than older models.

Changes

The Able disk (fine) I bought 12 years ago was made from a higher quality steel, and the holes were smaller as well. My new XL filter (also fine) is definitely more fragile, as I've already made a crinkle in it, where as my old one was kind of bulletproof. More coffee drops through with this dur8ng the bloom and beyond. Wish the holes were as tiny as before.

Works a charm, definitely fuller tasting coffee than using the paper filters.

Great for aeropress

Don’t recommend for moka pot, but great for saving aeropress filters.

Great Filter

Never worry about running out of paper filters again! Both the fine and extra fine disk work great and make for a delicious cup. Cup clarity is still pretty good too, I was worried it would lead to silty cup but this is not the case. The filter blocks out all the little partials from getting through just like a paper filter

Love it.

Personally I love it. I think it allows a little bit more of the coffee oils into the coffee so it more reminds me of a French press style but a little cleaner. I also like that I won’t need to keep buying filters even though that’s a tiny expense.

Better than Paper

Ran out of paper filters and have been meaning to try out a reusable filter disc. Perfect cup, hardly any fines when used with the correct grind size, and durable too. Can brew normally or inverted - there is almost no dripping like with paper filters brewing conventionally. Less waste is a bonus!

Never run out of filters

These are very precise and will last forever. If you grind properly, you won't get any sediment. The cup you get will be a little different than with paper filters, but that's all part of the fun in tweaking new recipes. If you love aeropress, you should have these on hand. They coffee grinds will stick to the filter though, which means you have to wipe it off each time. When I make aeropress out and about, I typically still use paper filters because I can pop them off with the grinds straight into the compost.

Another way to enjoy your Aeropress

The metal filter is a nice companion to your Aeropress for a more "french press" punch for that morning cup. Although there is definitely sediment that manages to get through the finely threaded holes on the disk, its minimal for most of my brews and is an expectation for a more filling cup. If you want to add some new pep to your daily routine, why not give it a try?

Great addition to AeroPress

I've been using this disk for about 5 years and it is still as good today as the day I got it. Stands up to daily use and means the only consumables are coffee beans and water. Good option for travelling as no paper filters to manage. Compared to using the paper filters it gives a bit more body to the cup and allows oils and small amount of sediment can come through. It also offers more resistance compared to the paper filters which means a firmer press is required. Highly recommended.

Makes damn good coffee!

I have used this filter for a few weeks straight now, and I think it is a great add on for any aero-press user! It definitely adds more body to the cup than a standard paper filter. Make sure that you dont press too hard using it though, because it will force grinds into the mesh and clog the filter - causing a very slow and painful press! Otherwise, fantastic product - well made, seems decently durable, easy to clean.

Great quality filters

I purchased these filters together with Aeropress. Great quality. Easy to clean (tap water and toothbrush). My coffee is even more tasty with coffee oils. Very slight sedimentation as someone mentioned only gives more flavour to your coffee and for me this is never a problem, I actually like it.

Expand your Aeropress's horizons!

The Aeropress is a formidable brewer, delivering a wide range of coffee tastes and flavours. The Able Disk Standard increases this range dramatically. With this metal filter, I can get a cup of coffee that tastes just like it was made with a French Press. It allows the oils to pass through--unlike paper filters which absorb oils--often resulting in a heavier, fuller-bodied cup of coffee. It's cheap, well made, easy to clean...what else can I say? Buy one!

Well made but could be better

Nice slight change in body of cup, but noticeably more sedimentation at the bottom of the cup even with the fine filter.

Nothing bad to say

They work just as advertised. I like using 1 metal and 1 paper filters for extra clean results.

Warning: if you're used to using paper filters you may accidentally throw them out.

Moving to reusable disk

Easy to wash, makes great coffee, and arrived quickly! Two thumbs up.

Thanks, Lane - glad you're enjoying it! :)

An alright filter

This filter does what it says except it is hard to clean, and doesn't quite fit perfectly into the lid of the aeropress. Would love to see a bit of work done to the surface of the filter to help avoid having coffee stick to the filter.
