General Returns & Exchange Policy

We strive to deliver the highest quality coffee gear to our customers. If a product does not meet your expectations, we welcome returns for almost any item within 30 days of purchase*, even if it’s been opened and used. We also gladly accept returns within 1 year of purchase if the items are unused and in their original packaging.

*Please note that if you are returning a high-value item priced $800 CAD or more, a restocking fee of 10% may apply even within 30 days of purchase.

How to Initiate a Return

All retail customers in Canada may submit a return request through our self-serve return portal. For step-by-step instructions, please visit the returns FAQ page.

The self-serve return portal is only compatible with orders placed through the Eight Ounce Coffee website and from within Canada. All other returns may be requested by emailing hello@eightouncecoffee.ca with the following:

  1. Your order number or receipt
  2. The reason for your return (i.e., changed mind)

For local customers, we also accept in-person returns at our Calgary showroom.

Our team will review your request and, if approved, will gladly facilitate a refund or replacement by providing you with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and the return address (if requested online).

When shipping your return, we kindly ask that you include all accessories and as much of the original packaging as possible. Because we are unable to refund or replace items that are damaged in transit, please make sure that everything is packaged securely enough to survive the journey back to us.

If your return falls outside of the limited 1-year or 30-day warranty period, please contact us and we will do our best to assist you!

Refunds

All refunds are issued to the original method of payment once the return product or products are received and inspected by our warehouse.

If the original method of payment is no longer active, refunds can be issued in the form of store credit.

Replacements

To request a replacement in the event that a product arrives damaged or fails to function as intended within the warranty period, please contact us with:

  1. A copy of the original receipt or order number
  2. A photo or video showing the issue
  3. The product's serial number (if applicable)

We will first attempt troubleshooting or repair. If those steps are not possible or do not resolve the issue, we will ship a replacement to you.

Exchanges

Eight Ounce Coffee does not offer direct exchanges. However, if you change your mind or realize you've ordered the wrong product after it has shipped, we'll gladly accept a return – please refer to our Return Policy above. Once the return process is initiated, you may place a new order for the correct product either immediately or after receiving your refund. The choice is yours!

Return Condition

We kindly ask that all unused items are shipped back in like-new condition, with all original packaging and accessories included.

If you are returning a used item due to a manufacturing error or defect (see above), please check to make sure that it is clean and free of debris, and that you have included as much of the original packaging as possible and all accessories. Items returned with missing parts or accessories may be subject to restocking fees.

If you have received a product with visual defects, broken components, or missing accessories, please contact us with images of the concern, and we will gladly facilitate a replacement or refund.

Restocking Fees & Shipping Label Deductions

We never want to say “no”. If you would like to return a used or opened item outside of the 30-day window (see above), please contact us and we will gladly review your request. If approved, we will facilitate a refund with a restocking fee of 10-20% depending on the conditions of your return.

Please note that a restocking fee of 10% may also apply to non-warranty returns on high-value items over $800 CAD even within 30 days of purchase.

The cost of return shipping is covered by Eight Ounce Coffee if the product:

  • Arrives damaged, in poor condition, or with missing components.
  • Fails to function as intended within the warranty period
  • Is the result of a shipping discrepancy (i.e., wrongly received item).

For all other returns, a shipping label will be made available upon request, with the cost deducted from the overall refund. If you have any questions regarding our return policy, we invite you to reach out to hello@eightouncecoffee.ca.

For orders marked as "refused" or "return to sender," return shipping costs will be deducted from the eligible refund.

Gift Returns & Exchanges

Whether you’ve received duplicates or a product that was not what you had in mind, you may request a gift return or exchange by:

  1. Emailing hello@eightouncecoffee.ca with either a gift receipt or the order number (emailed to the original purchaser). We'll walk you through the mail-in returns process outlined above!
  2. Visiting our Calgary Showroom with your gift receipt or order number for an in-person return or exchange.

Our team will review your request and, if approved, will either accept your return or (if requesting online) provide an RMA number, shipping address, and mail-in shipping instructions.

We can only issue complete refunds to the original method of payment; in the event this is not available, gift returns will be issued via an Eight Ounce Coffee gift card corresponding to the refund value.

Please keep in mind that gift returns and exchanges are subject to our standard Returns Policy outlined above.

Final Sale Items

In addition to products which have been damaged or worn down from misuse or normal wear and tear, some items are non-returnable such as:

  • Consumables such as milk, coffee, or tea
  • Non-electronic yard sale items, or electronic yard sale items listed as “used”
  • Opened filters
  • Gift cards

UNLESS damage has occurred during shipping or in the event of a shipping error.

Important Notes

Packaging: We appreciate you sending back as much of the original packaging as possible. Please ensure that items are well-packaged for their return journey as we cannot refund items that are damaged in transit due to inadequate packaging.

Restocking Fee: We reserve the right to charge a restocking fee if the product is valued at over $800 BEFORE taxes, returned dirty, wet, with missing parts, or if it's returned after the 30-day window. Yard sale items may also incur a restocking fee if not covered by warranty.

Warranty Policy

All of our products are covered under individual manufacturer warranties, along with our Eight Ounce 1-year limited warranty (effective from the consumer date of purchase).

If a product you purchased from us, or one of our authorized resellers, develops a problem due to a manufacturer defect, please contact us promptly at hello@eightouncecoffee.ca

To process a claim, we require:

  • A copy of your original receipt or order number
  • A photo or video showing the issue
  • The product's serial number (if applicable)

What Happens Next?

  • Our team will first walk through troubleshooting steps with you.
  • If troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, we will arrange for the item to be shipped back to us for repair where possible. Please note, that if the issue is found to be outside of warranty coverage, including cases of user error, repair costs and return shipping may apply.
  • If repair is not possible, we will provide a replacement, which will be shipped directly to you. In special cases, if requested by you or the authorized reseller, we can ship the replacement to the reseller instead. Please note that we may ask for the original product to be returned to us first. In those cases, we will provide an RMA number and a prepaid shipping label. Once our warehouse receives and inspects the return, the replacement will be shipped out automatically.
  • In the rare case a replacement is not available:
    • If purchased directly from us, we will issue a refund via your original method of payment.
    • If purchased from one of our authorized resellers, we will issue an Eight Ounce Retail gift card for the product value paid (excluding shipping), or:
    • We will work with the authorized reseller to refund you via your original method of payment.

Yard Sale items have separate warranty conditions. For Yard Sale items, please see the specific warranty policies outlined here.

Warranty claims cannot be processed for purchases from Amazon, eBay, or other third party e-commerce websites. Please contact the reseller directly.

Important Notes

Warranty coverage does NOT include

  • Any defect arising from the misuse of the product. This includes but is not limited to negligence, lack of descaling, damage as a result of a drop or fall, or failure to follow product instructions.

  • Normal wear and tear (ie. scratches, dents and wearing out of replaceable parts).

  • Natural variations in the colour of wooden items (ie. handles, lids, collars or bases).

  • Any glass, plastic, or ceramic items or parts–outside of damage during transit or manufacturing error.

  • Items purchased from third-party e-commerce websites such as Amazon, eBay, or similar platforms.

  • Non-electronic yard sale items, or electronic yard sale items listed as “used”.

  • Items used in a commercial environment, unless explicitly sold as commercial-grade.
