Manual espresso maker praised for "solid build quality" and making "delicious espresso." Customers love the simple, plastic-free design and robust construction. Common concerns include a pressure gauge that's "hard to read" and may require more strength than expected. Some noted initial setup issues like upside-down seals. Easy to clean with a learning curve.

Solid build quality

Solid build quality, easy to use. The gauge comes in handy when trying to hit specific pressure.

The Cafelat Barista Robot purchase is my entry into making espresso at home

The Cafelat Barista Robot purchase is my entry into making espresso at home. All of the reviews that ultimately helped me choose the Robot were right; it’s an amazing little gadget! Simple, user friendly, and esthetically pleasing. Pulls a dang good espresso. Very happy with my purchase.

Cafelat Robot Barista - Australian review

Bought Cafelat Robot Barista from this shop and didn't expect time response and shipment will be this fast (around 1 week, from Canada to Australia). Very recommended coffee shop!

Red Cafelat Robot Barista

Love the unique design and red color. Very well made of solid steel parts so you know it will last. We couldn’t get enough pressure during our first few tries at making espresso and went online to see what others experienced. Turns out the piston seal came installed upside down so we removed it and installed it correctly …voila instant pressure. Happy that was an easy fix. Machine is easy to use. We have made different espresso drinks and are having fun trying different beans to find our favorites. Only complaint, like others have noted, is that the pressure gauge is tiny and hard to read. There are after market gauges that can be installed and I’d buy the Cafelat without the pressure gauge and look at an after market install if I were to buy this again. It’s also possible to not use a gauge at all if you get the feel for it.

Promises to have a simple workflow

Just got it and still getting used to it. Easy to clean. So far the only nit to pick is that I wish the pressure gauge placement was better (not on the arm; hard to see while using). It would have been great if it was centered at the top of the base unit (similar to the mods out there) from the factory.

Great espresso maker, love that it’s plastic free

Easy to use, makes great coffee. Love that it’s the most plastic free espresso maker out there. If you’ve never used a manual press, this might take more strength to push down than you’re expecting, so any manual press may not be a great fit for an elderly person or someone with decreased strength, just fyi. When I tried it for the first time I thought of my mom who would have had trouble. Also, just a note for the manufacturer: I would love it if it was a little taller so that I could place a cup underneath it before inserting the porta filter. Sometimes it takes a couple tries for me to get it secured, and then espresso starts leaking out before I can put a cup underneath it. It’s a little messy. Bonus if I could put a regular sized coffee cup under it.

Much better than expected

Bought this after some research and decide to go with it after so many great reviews. Glad I did! Not only the whole order processing/delivery went smoothly, the robot takes amazing delicious coffee.

Great Espresso Maker

I purchased this Cafelat Robot Barista as a definite upgrade from my current espresso maker. I already know what coffee beans and recipes I like so there was very little dialing in to do. I watched a lot of videos on this machine before I purchased it so I had the routine down before I purchased it too.
From the start I have not had a really bad espresso shot from this machine. I believe that if you heat up the portafilter, the basket and your cup, you will have the same results too. It helps to start with a 15 second pre infusion and a 25 to 30 second extraction time at 6 to 9 bars of pressure.
Also, I must add that dealing with Eight Ounce Coffee is indeed a pleasure, and the employees really seem to know their products.

What a Gem.

What a gem the Robot is. This is about as simple as it gets. I have a Flair Classic and got frustrated at the number of parts and the amount of fussing needed to use it. The Robot is so much simpler and it still makes wonderful coffee. Despite its simplicity, it still provides the means to explore variables like dose, brew ratio, pressure, pre-infusion, and flow. You can find a good recipe and just make good coffee or you can experiment with it as much as you want to see how various factors affect flavor. Pair the Robot with a good espresso grinder for best result. The included tamper works fine, but a WDT tool and a leveling tamper make puck prep simple and consistent.

For a Lifetime of Espressi

From the moment I unpackaged this, it was immediately clear that the construction of all the components was incredibly robust. I am fully confident that this will be making espresso shots for many years to come. The process was relatively straightforward as well, and my first shot ever pulled on any machine turned out delicious thanks to the robot.

Fantastic machine. I’m in love !

Very happy with the Cafelat Robot.
A bit of a learning curve, but that’s all part of the fun!
Really high quality build. Looks great, and makes delicious espresso once you get the hang of the technique.
