Customers praised this pour-over kettle for its "excellent control" and precise pouring. The built-in thermometer and elegant design are highlights. However, many noted the matte finish chips easily on the bottom, especially with regular stovetop use. Some reported safety concerns with hot handles and water sputtering at high temps.

Stagg Pourover Kettle review

Bought this to upgrade my pourover setup. I have a gas stove so I didn't need the electric version. The kettle itself doesn't feel cheap. I pair this with my ACAIA Lunar scale, so the black matte aesthetic is nice. The spout lets me control the pour really nicely. Enjoying the usage so far.

Ideal kettle for the Flair58+

This attractive black kettle is perfect for filling the brew-head of my still new Flair 58+. It allows me to brew my fave early-morning beverage using my gas stove without having to depend on electric power. That's especially handy in the event of a power outage in an area which experiences these from time to time.

Great Kettle

Bought this kettle in 2021 and it still works great, although the matte finish has chipped off a bit at the bottom - i use it mostly on my coil stove.

Good, but certainly not perfect

I love how this kettle looks, but I've had a number of design issues with it over the past 10 months I've been using it. The chipping on the bottom has been well-documented, and isn't really something that bothers me, but there are others aspect that do (namely, safety).

First of all, if you heat the kettle to 210-212 degrees (my preferred brewing temperature for light roast coffees), the water will sputter out of the spout at a very fast rate, pushing both the grounds and water out of the brewing device, and likely burning your hand; this seems to happen if the kettle isn't quite full enough, but if it's too full the water will then come out of the vents at the top, also possible burning you. Another issue I have is that on the handle where it connects to the kettle itself, there's about an inch of metal that heats up. You will absolutely touch this part by accident once or twice, burning yourself, so be very careful.

While minor issues, it's worth noting that the stove-top version of this kettle takes a surprisingly long time to boil, and that the temperature gauge steams up at around 210 degrees. The latter is not a big deal, but it does detract from the overall aesthetic and feeling of quality.

I do very much like the flow-rate of the kettle, and as mentioned, it's a nice looking piece of equipment. I just wish some of these clear design issues were considered, particularly given that this isn't a cheap kettle.

Pretty but..

Don’t look at the undersides after a few uses the bottom will get discoloured and scuffed. The paint chips easy if you drop the lid. If that doesn’t bother you then this is a great kettle for making coffee. It holds water, boils and pours.

Nice Spout!

The kettle has a great spout and is awesome for pour-overs. The thermometer is also a nice touch!

Love it!

It’s a lovely kettle- nice slow controlled pour. My only regret is that I just bought it, and now it’s on sale!

Beautiful stovetop kettle

I wanted a stovetop kettle so that I could stash away in the cupboard when not in use. No electronics to eventually fail. Smooth slow pour which makes it great for pour over but too slow for tea or french press. The paint on the bottom will chip away but is barely visible while sitting on stove.

Bottom is gone

I have owned this kettle for about two years. I bought it from eight ounce. The bottom paint is totally gone. It still functions like a kettle, but when you’re paying too dollar, you expect lasting quality. I contacted fellow about how to prevent the paint coming off and they were not helpful. I won’t be buying from fellow again.

Meets Expectations - Really Enoy Using

Have used this every day for over a month. It seems well made and durable. Of course the shape of the spout means that it will not tolerate rough treatment, to be expected. The handle is weighted so the unit has nice balance and is enjoyable to use. Perhaps the best feature is the temp gauge, since coffee is a best brewed within a fairly narrow temp region. It really does seem to make a difference. I am now sold on the concept of the pour over kettle, the blooming and slow pouring really does produce a superior result. The most noticeable improvement is a distinct lack of bitterness, enhancing the actual coffee flavour, certainly worth the effort. You can achieve slow pouring with any kettle but it's not that easy.

I have been using the unit on an induction stove top rather than on a gas stove. This seems to work very well because I can precisely control the water temp and also it is very easy to keep the unit clean - the bottom doesn't get burnt.

I am very happy to support a local Canadian company, rather than you know who.

Love it!

Wasn't sure if I would like a non-electric kettle but I love it and it looks good. I dedicated a ring on my stove just for it, though so I am not having to clean the bottom of it as often.

A Kettle to Change Your Life?

I didn't ever think that a kettle could truly be luxurious until I received my Stagg. It's simple, elegant, and works exactly how it should. The thermometer makes it dead easy to get the perfect water temperature for my coffee. After removing the kettle from heat, it sits for quite a while at the same temperature. This kettle has made my life better already, and I expect we'll have many happy years together to come.

Stagg Pour-Over Kettle Matte Black Stove Top Model.

Nice design and capacity for 2 cups of tea. Light weight, works very well and quickly on an induction stove. The incorporated thermometer is easy to see when the boiling temperature is reached. This helps since there is no audible indication to stop heating. Spout design allows for dripless pouring.

Great gift for the pour over crowd

I bought the Fellow Staff pour-over kettle in polished copper for my son who loves his coffee and he loves this. As a 20-something, it really adds something to his kind of bland apartment decor, but better than that, it is functional and performs exactly as it is supposed to. The service from Eight Ounce Coffee was terrific: despite it being the Christmas season and COVID delays, he got this on schedule.

Great Service

The kettle was purchased as a Christmas gift and so I am not the end user and as it is not yet Christmas I can not comment on the actual kettle. I can however say the item arrived on time, and in great condition. From the time it was purchased online until it was delivered I received updates on the delivery status. I would definitely order from eight ounce again!

Fantastic Kettle, Misleading Colour

The Stagg kettle is gorgeous, well balanced, well controlled, and generally a joy to use. My only complaint is that the website shows a very bright copper colour, while ours arrived a darker shade. To be clear, the kettle isn't tarnished, just a deeper shade than what is portrayed on the website.

Beautiful and lovely

Purchased for my mother and it looks beautiful in the kitchen - both while being used, and as a accent piece. She ended up even wanting the matching kettle! We found it to boil a bit slow on the gas stove so if in a rush, pouring boiling water inside is also a good option. Has amazing control when doing a drip pour and the spout seems to be made to discourage dripping - It also seems to be pretty good at holding heat and stayed pretty hot for a while off the stove top and the temperature gauge works as it should. Love it~
