The KALITA Wave 185 MINO Pottery Dripper combines Japanese tradition with modern coffee brewing excellence. Handcrafted in Japan using the centuries-old Mino Ware technique, each dripper undergoes a meticulous process, from chrysanthemum kneading to the final gloss firing. This technique, originating in Gifu Prefecture, offers a rustic, natural satin finish and earthy tones, bringing warmth and charm to any space.

The MINO's flat-bottom, 3-hole design paired with Kalita 185 Wave filters ensures an even extraction for smooth, balanced coffee free of bitterness. Its 20-wave filter and dripper minimize contact between water and the filter, allowing for an even flow and rich, full flavour.

Perfect for home or cafe brewing, the Kalita MINO reflects the craftsmanship of Oribe, Setoguro, and Shino wares. Whether you're serving 2 to 4 cups, the MINO dripper delivers not just exceptional coffee but also a touch of artisanal beauty to your brewing ritual.

This Japanese-made ceramic flat-bottom dripper delivers "consistently sweet and less astringent" cups. Customers praised its beautiful design, improved flow rate over previous models, and forgiving brewing. "More body and texture than a V60," highlighting sweetness well. One minor note: requires preheating with water.

Gorgeous dripper

We were really excited to get this beautiful made-in-Japan flat-bottom dripper. We saw these all over Japan at the nicest coffee shops and decided we really wanted one ourselves. This dripper makes a juicy, clean, bright, sweet cup, and is the perfect counterpart to our V60 and Chemex.

I accepted this as a point redemption

I accepted this as a point redemption, but very pleasantly surprised. maybe my technique for pourover on a v60 is bad, but with the 185 I get consistently sweeter and less astringent pours.

Love this brewer!

Love this brewer! Beautifully designed, and the flow is so much better (faster) than the original Kalita Wave. It will be my go-to for the next while :)

Great dripper!

Great dripper! Time to retire my old plastic dripper and this was a wonderful option from Eight Ounce. Excellent coffee and a warm, sand colour.

Honestly surprised how good this brews coffee

Honestly surprised how good this brews coffee. Been using George Horwell's method of 6x 15 second pours every 15 seconds, a little coarser grind.

Great brewer to experiment with.

Great brewer, more forgiving than a v60. Nice to experiment and see what profiles you can get out of it. A little more body and texture then a v60 at the sacrifice of clarity and acidity. Great for those that like a chocolaty nutty coffee with bold flavours.

Good ceramic finish, smooth, solid, and well-crafted.

I’ve been using a V60 for a long time, and this is my first flat-bottom dripper. It’s a completely different brewing experience and gives a different cup profile even with the same beans. Looking forward to lots of experiments with it! Good ceramic finish, smooth, solid, and well-crafted.

Excellent heat retention

The color is more beautiful in person. I feels a bit on the lighter side, however I feel like it retains heat a lot better then the other ceramic brewers I have.

Great brewing method

Another great tool in the arsenal. I like it better than the Chemex. Mostly because I don’t have to fold the filters. But I find I get different profiles when I brew with either method so it’s fun to have both.

A beautifully crafted dripper

The Kalita Wave 185 MINO instantly felt at home in my lineup. It brews with a gentle, even flow that smooths out mis-dialed grinds and consistently produces sweet, balanced cups with very little effort. The pottery build gives it a warm, tactile feel that makes brewing genuinely enjoyable.
