Not a V60 but makes great coffee

I've been using this brewer and carafe for about 2 months now. I changed over to pourover coffee out of a hyperfixasion for better tasting coffee. I started with a v60 ish sort of brewer but fell in love with the carafe from fellow so why not get the brewer as well. It's finicky to get the bloom just right and grind size needs to be smaller than you are used to. The fellow guide says bloom with double the amount you pour with I found it's better to bloom with a bit more like 2.5x the amount so 100ml bloom with 40ml steps works well for a 500ml total brew still using the golden ratios of 15:1 to 18:1. The carafe needs big hands to hold with 1 hand comfortably I have 11" hands from pinky to thumb extended and it's very comfortable my gf with smaller hands needs to hold it with both. The blown glass does feel very delicate but does a fantastic job of keeping coffee warm not hot. I'm happy with the purchase it just took me about 3 weeks to seriously dial in the brewing making 1.5L a day.

Great brew

This brewer does not really worth it. It is not bad, it's just ridiculously expensive for what it is.

Filters are hard to use. It takes 30-40 seconds to separate one filter from the rest of the package and it is a lot of unnecessary hassle. Also, it is possible to use only Fellow own filters, which are expensive and not available everywhere. If you bend the filters it is not fixable, they will make even more trouble.

The brewer itself has a good build quality, but it doesn't matter. What is the point of vacuum sealed brewer if plastic can achieve almost the same heat retention? Double-wall glass carafe is nice, but very fragile.

V60 set costs literally 5 times less and provides easier and faster workflow, simpler and more robust construction, more recipes, cheaper and more accessible filters. There is no reason to consider this brewer unless you tried everything else and money is no objection.

Carafe is great dripper just okay

I love the fellow carafe with its double walled design but I find that the dripper doesn't do as good a job as my good old V60 in bringing out the true flavor of the coffee. The coffee is not a bright when I use the fellow dripper.

Easy to brew great coffee consistently.

I am happy I made this purchase. It's my first pour over brewer with a flat bed. The flow rate is controlled nicely from the numerous holes & tall sides. Additionally, the grooves in the Stagg paper filters seem to ensure a smooth flow. Combined, all these features mean that it is very easy to brew while keeping the grounds consistently flat & even; ensuring a reduced risk of channelling & therefore a more even extraction. Even if my pour was slightly clumsy, no peaks or valleys in the grounds have shown so far. Props to this design for that.

The vacuum sealed brewer and double walled carafe obviously do a great job with temperature control, very happy to see that. After the brew, coffee is kept quite hot in the carafe for about 20 mins with the silicone lid on top. If you are someone who returns to their coffee after more than 20 mins for their second cup, consider a thermal carafe.

After 5 brews and a few tweaks on grind settings, I can safely say my coffee has been delicious af! It's easy to detect a top, middle, and base flavour profile, and the equipment not only looks beautiful on the counter while you are working, clever design details improve your brewing experience and make it easier to brew great tasting coffee consistently. A+

I love this brewer and the carafe is just awesome! Just getting into pour over coffee finally and it is now my favorite brew method! I haven’t yet tried the Hario or others but this Stagg can make a wicked cup or multiple cups of coffee. Along with my new Ode gen 2 and EKG kettle, this is the perfect addition to my coffee setup. I can confidently recommend this product.

Nice Upgrade

Don't let the price of the Fellow Stagg XF pour-over set put you off. The industrial design, build quality and ease of use is excellent, the double-walled carafe retains heat very well, and cleanup takes just seconds! It has quickly become our go-to pour-over equipment. Your best and preferred cup of coffee will require some experimentation with water temperature, precise dosing and grind size, but that is the same procedure with any brewing method.
Bonus feature: this thing looks fabulous; good enough to leave on the counter all day...

Makes Great Coffee

Coffee tastes great and the double wall carafe and dripper are extremely high quality.

Great coffee. Great to look at.

It looks amazing. Makes a very full bodied cup so if you were a dark roast drinker (blasphemous to some I know) you might have to invest in some lighter coffees. The carafe holds heat very well and keeps the coffee warm for my partner when she gets up for work an hour and a half after myself. The instructions that Fellow include are consistent and easy to follow. The included measuring cup is not too bad but definitely get a scale for most consistent results :)

Great if you don't have other specialty equipment

This brewer is for people who don't have all of the specialty equipment (Scale, pouring kettle, hand grinder even). This pourover kit would be a great idea to introduce someone into specialty coffee as it has markings on the side for an easy ballpark. For the initiated, I would recommend the fellow stagg x over the xf as it has a smaller brewing basket which provides better control over the coffee bed if you have the equipment for it. I am part of the second group so I returned this as I wanted more precision. If you have a kettle and nothing else, get this XF over the Stagg X.

Nice addition

I use an Oxo pour over and decided to upgrade my game a bit. Still new to pour over coffee but the taste improvement is a great draw. At present using the Oxo’s reservoir to cheat when supposed to use a proper kettle. I love the good heat insulation of the Fellow Stagg.

Makes great coffee, but part of that is to use water with a temperature below boiling.

Great Pour Over Set!

I love this pour over set. It's quick but makes a good brew. I opt for it over the chemex any chance because its so easy to clean. I also really like the funnel and drip tray combo, it keeps things tidy while brewing.

love it but pricey

I really love it and use it regularly but I find the filters incredibly pricey. As a consequence I use mostly the Kalita 185 wave filters for everyday brewing.

A pleasure to use, and to look at :) Makes 2 perfect cups for mornings and retains the heat for a long time in case someone is up earlier than the other :)

Great brewer

I’ve used a chemex setup for years and have always enjoyed a chemex brew. I decided on whim to try a new system. This setup is fanastic. It really retains the heat while brewing and is a lot easier to clean then the chemex. It’s also great as a travel set and the ratio guides are helpful if you don’t want to bring all your coffee gear camping. The filters are thinner than the chemex filter so leaves a more full bodied coffee. Side by side I have started to prefer the coffee this setup makes. I still love a chemex coffee but this system makes up for some of the shortcomings of the chemex brewer.

What are other paper filters that can also work with stagg XF pourover set's dripper? I know the ideal choice woule be the Stagg XF Paper Filters, but it's sold out everywhere including eightounce. Would love to buy this set but want to make sure I can buy the proper filter for it.

Eight Ounce Coffee

Hello Mu,

Unfortunately, the FF filter size is fairly unique. In a pinch, the Kalita 185 filters can be manipulated to fit roughly. We hope this helps!

Warm regards,
