PORLEX Mini Grinder II

Really happy I finally took the plunge! This little guy really leveled up my travel aeropress set up. Super adjustable and a fun way to add some movement in the morning! The end fits nicely into the bottom hole of my aeropress to pack away for storage. The packaging on this thing is also STUNNING, like I felt bad recycling the box because it was so beautiful...

Good build quality. Doesn't break. Grinds coffee.

Capacity is perfect for my 3-cup Moka pot.

Grind consistency is really bad. I would send it back.

I own a 5 year old Hario Slim that produces much better results for half the price. The only reason to buy this thing is because it fits inside an Aeropress...

Bought this to use with my Aeropress. Was using a cheaper grinder, from China, bought off Amazon. The quality of the Porlex Mini II is far superior to the Chinese one.
I'm using it for a fine grind for an expresso like extraction with the Fellow Prismo. The grind is consistent with the Porlex, where as the Chinese one isn't. Could have bought off Amazon, but try to buy Canadian, when I can. So this and the Aeropress will be going with me when I go solo motorcycle camping this summer. If the wife comes along and I bring the french press will be purchasing the Porlex Tall, as the mini only does 20 grams at a time, and the tall does 30.

This is my third Porlex, and the improvements make a terrific little grinder
even better. MUCH faster grind, noticeably improved grind consistency at
finer grind sizes, and a better handle/shaft interface design. Easy, precise
adjustment from 'spro to Bodum.

I was looking for a hand grinder based on a recommendation from an Italian guy that said hand grinding makes better coffee. He said the electric grinders turn too fast and burn the coffee. I bought this one based on the price, size, and reviews. I brew my coffee in a moka pot, so I also wanted one that could grind fine.

Well, turns out he was right. The coffee certainly tastes better using a hand grinder. It is a nice compact unit that fits well in the hand. The grinding process is smooth, and I actually find it a bit therapeutic. It takes under two minutes to grind out about 14 grams. It grinds much finer than my electric model; which Is most likely the main reason for the better taste.

The construction of the product is good. Having been in manufacturing I would say it is a bit overpriced. Time will tell as to it’s durability. As of now I am pleased with my purchase and look forward each morning to my new coffee making routine.

This is my first grinder, but it seems to be good quality. I have no complaints except I wish it could hold more.
There is the "tall" version which has a larger capacity, but for a single serving, this one works great.

Very limited amount of space in my kitchen and this thing is perfect, its about the same size as a small pepper grinder.

Have been using it for a few months to replacer a blade grinder and the difference is huge. The grind is consistent, its well built and pretty easy to take apart and clean. I wish the removable crank had a bit more of a solid connection to the grinder but thats about it.

Great little grinder! It comes highly recommended by friends and gives the results of a higher priced grinder. Very happy with the purchase.

Works exactly as advertised. I spent a lot of time looking for something that was portable but durable.
A nice workout of the arms first thing in the morning to get the beans ground, and the result is a great reward.

This is our second grinder (the other a Hario Slim) and I bought this one for espresso so I wouldn't have to switch the settings back and forth. Many pros to this grinder: cute size, stainless steel and ceramic = easy to clean, handy sleeve for the handle, grind seems more consistent than the Hario Slim, posh cardboard box made me feel like I had purchased a definite upgrade. cons: the handle has more wobble than the Hario and I can't seem to get the grind setting low enough for an espresso - but maybe both of those things are user error? Very happy with customer service. Will definitely place an order again in the future. Thanks!

Porlex Mini Grinder II

This is my first coffee grinder, so I have no others to compare to.
However I did spent a couple weeks doing my research and chatting up with my neighborhood barista, before deciding on Porlex MIni II

Product is small and light, got a pretty good grip to it, easy to clean. Living up to its name: Made in Japan

I have been using this everyday for espresso, it took a while for me to familiarize with the adjustment knob, but you will get used to the "how tight it should be before I start clicking" before you know it, just don't go all crossfit strength on it ofcourse.

The espresso grind is consistent enough, I don't taste any / much difference in my daily cup of flat white. (I'm pairing it with Leverpresso non-pressurize maker)
I did consider purchasing the Timemore C2 Grinder just to compare, but Porlex seem to have captured what I wanted already.

Conclusion, I am very happy with my decision. Strongly recommended!

I bought this grinder for portability. It has been fantastic. I doubt its as accurate as a $200-300 grinder, but that’s not what you would buy a mini for. Very happy with this purchase.

Had a Hario Mini Slim for about 5 years, no complaints, but the Porlex grinds faster and more evenly! Less to break with the all metal design and no threads, and super easy to clean. All that plus fitting in to the Aeropress cylinder; I am pleased.

Have been using this grinder for about six months now and I absolutely love it, the grind range is massive and can grind very close to an espresso grind if you're in a pinch. For the price it is great but as the grind gets coarser you do notice that the grind size is not super consistent but if paired with a Kruve sifter you can have very consistent grinds. Overall would recommend to anybody starting out looking for a good bang for your buck or somebody looking to travel as this fits inside the top of the aeropress when the rubber sleeve is removed.

I currently own a couple tall Porlex grinders so I knew what to expect when i orders the mini grinder II. I must say since both of the tall grinders I own are the versions before this I was very happy with the updates they have done with the version II. To start off i love that the mini includes a rubber holder to keep the handle close to the grinder, yes you can use a rubber band but the band that is included seems much more sturdy and will last longer in the long term side of things. The other thing I really appreciated was the new and improved adjustment knob. The older version I have had very little feedback when turning the adjustment knob for the grind size, it wasn't a big deal but I did find myself a couple times having to start over since i didn't know if I hit the little ridges or if i skipped them. On the mini II the feedback from the ridges are much more pronounced so there is absolutely no second guessing yourself, it was also a plus that the knob is much larger so it really helps making sure that the grind size is perfect! Other than that everything else was up to standard like the ceramic burs to the stainless steel body, it is exactly what you expect from a Porlex product!

Grinder is well built and feels nice in the hands. The grind settings are easy to change and the consistency of the grind is very uniform. I like that the handle is easily detachable and can be stored in the little silicon sleeve. For anyone buying this as a companion to an Aero Press, the grinder will fit in the body of the Aero Press but only with the silicon sleeve removed. Makes the perfect amount for Aero Press coffee’s though! According to Porlex you’re fine to wash this with regular tap water, just dry it really well after. Makes for easy cleaning!

I love this little hand grinder. It was difficult to find from an authorized retailer in North America until I found Eight Ounce Coffee Supply. In fact they're the only ones that I've found that sell second version of this grinder. I had it shipped to the United States and the shipping was not cheap. The grinder was everything I wanted and more. There are many reviews on many different sites about the porlex mini and it lives up to the hype. I was most certainly surprised at how small it is. I use it to grind for 8 gram espresso shots. It grinds very quickly (much quicker than it takes for my kettle to heat up the water). I'm talking less than 20 seconds on a pretty fine setting. All in all I'm very happy. If anything it's pricey but I expect to have this for a very long time.

Received the grinder very quickly and the product was what I expected

The grinder was delivered as promised and is functioning very well.

Purchased this as a gift for my outdoorsy son as a companion for his Aeropress. He is thrilled that he can grind coffee on the trail now.
