Aquiares Estate, established in 1890, is a prominent Costa Rican coffee producer and a community of nearly 2,000 people in the town of Aquiares. With a focus on promoting home ownership, the farm provided bonuses and assistance with loans, resulting in over 96% of the workers becoming homeowners. The estate is also a pioneer in sustainable coffee farming, implementing ecological practices, planting shade trees, dedicating 20% of the land to conservation, and achieving Carbon-Neutral certification. Additionally, they engage in innovative research, developing hybrid varieties like Centroamericano, which utilizes a unique flower culture process, imparting a floral quality reminiscent of jasmine tea to the coffee.
