Best Coffee Filters

There are so many reasons to use different types of filters - here at Eight Ounce, we use different types of filters for different reasons!

Paper filters are the most commonly used type of coffee filter and are convenient and disposable. They provide a clean and smooth cup of coffee, as they filter out any particles or oils that may impact the flavour. However, paper filters can sometimes absorb the coffee's natural oils, which can affect the taste. The natural (unbleached) ones need to be rinsed a decent amount to remove the papery taste.

Metal filters are reusable and provide a clean and clear cup of coffee. They are made from stainless steel and are durable, making them a long-lasting option. Metal filters also allow more of the coffee's natural oils to pass through, which can result in a richer and bolder flavour. However, metal filters may require more maintenance and cleaning compared to paper filters.

Cloth filters are reusable and provide a natural and traditional feeling coffee experience. They are made from cotton and are designed to be eco-friendly and sustainable. Cloth filters do not absorb any of the coffee's natural oils and provide a clean and smooth cup of coffee. However, they do require more maintenance and cleaning compared to other filters, and they may take longer for the coffee to draw down.

The best type of coffee filter for you depends on personal preference and individual needs. But if you're anything like us, you'll keep a drawer full of different coffee filters for different moods and days of the week!
