Coffee Club Mix Roaster Highlight: DAK Coffee Roasters

If you’re interested in specialty coffee, then you’ve probably heard of DAK.
The story behind DAK Coffee Roasters begins with well-traveled cofounders, Louis-Philippe and Veronique. Originally hailing from Montreal, Canada, the duo spent over 8 years hopping from one European city to the next until eventually settling in Amsterdam.
It’s in Amsterdam where DAK Coffee Roasters was established, the result of a lifetime of enjoying exceptional coffee and its potential to elevate life’s most simple moments. With a focus on premium craftsmanship and sustainability, DAK’s founders now strive to spread the same joy across the world, one bag at a time.
From sourcing to roasting, DAK Coffee leads.
Because quality always begins at the root, DAK Coffee chooses the most trusted and ethical method of sourcing coffee beans. After all, what would be the purpose of DAK’s roasting practices if they weren’t applied to the best possible green coffee?
For roasting, DAK leads with curiosity, remaining open-minded as the specialty coffee industry continues to evolve and introduce new roasting and processing methods. This adaptiveness is the secret to DAK's variety, and it's how they create at least a few coffees for any palate. This includes a resounding crowd favourite (at least in North America), Milky Cake.
Like “stepping into a coffee cup”.
Often, a café’s first impression begins when you step through the door. With their space, DAK Coffee turned to the language of architecture, building a high-end environment to match the quality of their coffee beans.
DAK’s café and showroom was created by Dutch interior designer Barde VanVoltt, with a goal to create an immersive environment that evoked the idea of “stepping into a coffee cup”, according to VanVoltt himself.
With just a glance, it’s clear to see how he’s translated this concept into DAK’s showroom and café. Neutral clay walls, brick countertops, and natural lighting create a sublime intensity similar to a rich espresso. Meanwhile, the warm, wooden accents of DAK's intimate tasting room evoke the feeling of sinking into a soothing pour-over.
DAK x Eight Ounce Coffee Club Mix
If you’re reading this from North America, it may be a bitter feeling to realize that DAK only has one café, and that it’s currently across the North Atlantic. Maybe you’re planning a European trip soon, and in that case I highly recommend a stop by Amsterdam and DAK Coffee Roasters. If not for the thoughtful interior design, then for a world-class cup of coffee crafted by professional baristas.
If not, you can still enjoy DAK Coffee without leaving the continent.
The Eight Ounce Coffee Club Mix is now featuring two DAK Coffees – Raspberry Pop and Saint-Tropez – in the latest “Sunshine Mix”, only available for August.
