Tasting Notes: Prunes, Currants, Black Tea

Pronounced acidity reminiscent of red currants introduces a lively and tangy dimension to the flavour profile. Balanced by the sweetness of prunes and black tea in the finish, the East African brew leaves a smooth lingering aftertaste.

You can always count of this type of Kenyan Beans

I knocked off 2 stars for my dissatisfaction. For context, it took 7 days for these beans to arrive at my house (shipping takes longer since I reside in Ontario).

I was okay with the shipping time but what I'm not okay with is the fact that these beans were roasted on Feb 17, 2023 so it was more than 45 days old by the time I got to taste them. I was not pleased about this matter but staff kindly gave me a 20% refund (not to say this was sufficient compensation as profit is hard to earn nowadays. But from a customer perspective, I would've really preferred to know what the roast date was prior to ordering as I would've gladly chosen from another roaster instead - do you know what I mean?). Customer choice and satisfaction needs to reach an equilibrium but that's another topic of discussion.

Anyhow, back to tasting notes. I used the HARIO V60-02 SWITCH Immersion Dripper (total brew time was from 2.30-3 mins using Katsuya method which you can find on YouTube). To my surprise these Kenyan beans still tasted delicious as I how any Kenyan beans would (medium strength and full of fruity flavour that bursts with every sip). I can definitely taste the prunes and currants and makes you want to make a second cup right after!

The only downfall is that I will always wonder how it would've tasted if the roasting date was much more present in time.
