ACAIA Lunar Base Upgrade Kit

Like many other reviews have mentioned, it's a great addition to your lunar scale. Just be careful that when you're installing you're aligning it properly so it doesn't mess up your readings. I do wish it came with non-slip grips as my scale has taken a few tumbles from it sliding off the drip tray. I solved it by adding the grips from the original base. It's definitely a must!

I had an issue with the drip tray interfering with the scale base, this solved it !

This is a great product, and it makes the Lunar very stable.
It is pricey, what can I say, death by a thousand upgrades.

Very sturdy

So the base is almost a necessity but something that I just found out that kinda bothers me is that the heat pad that comes stock with the salvage is not compatible with the base. It a bit too long on the side which interferes with the weight and scale.

I just recently received the base. I had previously read somewhere that the base being made out of plastic, was very slippery and I concur with that assessment. On my kitchen countertop which is laminate, it's like the thing was on skates on an ice surface, and I assume that the result will be the same in other polished surfaces such a granite and quartz. Acaia should either redesign the base or provide an anti-slip kit of some kind. If someone is interested in buying mine at a discount, leave a comment pls.

The upgraded baseplate interferes with the non-slip mat that's included with the scale. It seems that Acaia has designed a lot of the Lunar accessories with complete disregard for compatibility when trying to use them in tandem.

Great design. Should've got sooner!

I use my Lunar scale on the drip tray of Profitec 500 espresso machine to weigh shots. With the 2 - 6-oz. cups I use, the scale must be positioned carefully to avoid the group head lever hitting a cup. This means less-than square on the drip tray (hangs over a little). This less than perfect platform has always caused the scale to hunt a little for tare...drifting up 0.1 to 0.3 and back to zero before the starting the shot. I ordered the base to protect from excess moisture exposure on the tray, having had one H20 lock-out on the scale. The base works well for protection as expected but the unexpected bonus is that it stabilized the scale on the drip tray making it tare and hold tare perfectly every time. Well made product! It's great addition to my original Lunar scale. I now realize that I should have gotten this way back when I purchased the scale. Easy to install, great construction. Very happy.

This has been on my Lunar from day one and I use it daily on my drip tray. It has done its job by providing accurate and reliable measurements day in, day out.
