ACAIA Pearl Model S Digital Scale

I use it for espresso making and matcha everyday. I love that when I open it, there’s a greeting that can be set anytime. I start espresso making by using it as a timer for the warm up of the machine and the timer is loud enough for me to hear once timer is up. Scale wise, it is accurate. I love that it is big enough to accommodate my portafilter.

Glad I waited for the Pearl S! I’ve owned the lunar for a while but wanted a scale for pour over. The recipes are great for learning and the notification sounds are a nice touch.Im always excited to see the welcome message from my pearl before brewing a nice cup!

This is a wonderful scale. It's not cheap but it's loaded with many very useful features. I love the fact that it has a larger footprint to accommodate various brewers and it also has a capacity of 3kg. The features are mainly directed toward filter brewing although there is an espresso mode, but given the size of the scale, it will probably not fit under most Espresso brew heads. The scale is snappy and I highly recommend the Silicone protective pad you can buy as well as the scale case if you plan on travelling with it. The pad the scale comes with is just way too small. Both are worthy upgrades. All in all, this scale will be amazing for anyone looking to brew coffee. There are smaller scales for Espresso machines such as the Bookoo scale or Acaia's own Lunar Version. If you have the money, this is the scale to buy.

I loved this scale for each and every day that I used it. I have been focusing more on espresso so I recently moved to the Lunar. Acaia as a brand is very reliable!

This scale is very fast and accurate. It is much faster than some of the cheaper scales. If this fits your budget, I highly recommend.

First coffee scale, so I don't have any point of comparison. Does the job and thankfully I don't need the apps.

I wish the connector would be USB-C, but otherwise it does what it needs to do.

I like the simplistic design and the white colour. It looks beautiful on my kitchen counter, matching perfectly with Fellow kettle of the same colour. I mostly just use the simple weighing function, and it works well. I use it not only for coffee, but as a kitchen scale for everything. The only thing that I can think of to complain is the turn-off button, which is actually tapping two times the turn-on button. However, I find it hard to handle. Sometimes I tap two times, and the scale is still on.

I'm going to be 100% honest, I bought this scale because it looks badass. It's super sleek, and very minimalist looking. It is, of course, also a great scale. It's very accurate and very responsive. I've had it for a year and used it every day. What I haven't used everyday is the bluetooth functionality. I used that for the first week of ownership and then never really bothered again. It's fun, but I can't be bothered to turn the app on everytime I want to make a coffee. I love that I can view flowrate while brewing to try and keep my pour consistent. After trying another scale for espresso, I've decided that I'm going to replace the lesser scale with a Lunar since I've been so blown away by my Pearl. If I could buy a cheaper one without bluetooth, I would in a heart beat.

Used it for about a month now and it hits the spot. The ability to update the software through the mobile app is pretty sweet - hopefully that means I won't need to upgrade/switch this scale out for a long time.

I bought the standard Acaia Pearl scale. Before long, it stopped working consistently. After some back and forth with Acaia, I sent it to Eight Ounce for repair. Acaia graciously covered the cost. Unfortunately, the repair turned out to be temporary. Instead of going back and forth again, I decided to buy a new one.

Necessary for a perfect coffee.

Price was a bit steep, but the scale was completely worth it!!!!!

Let's admit it: this scale is not cheap. But you get what you pay for!
It's well built, precise and fast. The dot-matrix display is an improvement from the Pearl's display.
The phone apps would need some love... they're not updated often, but I don't really use the apps anyway. I use the app once in a while to update the firmware or upload a new brewguide to the scale.
It's a bit large (about the same as the Fellow Stagg EKG heating pad, for reference), but that's a nice size for pourovers with decanters or a Chemex.

It may be expensive... but it's an overall great investment.
Extremely precise and beautifully designed, no regrets whatsoever!

I was recommended this scale by a friend. It is a wonderful product and I am very happy with it. The mass measurement is responsive, and the capacitive buttons are reliable and work well. It is truly configurable through a settings sub-menu, so you can set it up how you prefer. I use it for pour over, and the auto-start timer is simply brilliant, it feels like a product that blends seamlessly into my routine. You do not need the app to get 99% of the functionality from the product. The product was shipped quickly from eight ounce and arrived safely.

The only thing holding it back from a 5* review is that the scale comes with a permanent plastic film to protect it from scratches. It does detract from the products sleek look especially over the buttons which have embossed symbols.

This was the perfect gift for the coffee lover in my life.

This scale is impressive with all of the features it has. The way it works with the app, the cool brew guide and how it works with the scale is fantastic.

Take your time to get to learn and know this tool and I'm positive you'll love it too.

If you think you'll like it, or someone in your life will like it, you won't be dissapointed. It is worth the extra splurge in my books.

Shipping (to Ontario) was extremely fast, and Eight Ounce's service was exceptional as usual. In terms of the scale itself... I'm not sure what I was expecting, and I'll admit that it's beautiful, responsive and accurate, but after using it for a few days I just couldn't justify spending $300 (with taxes) on a scale. I returned this (without issue - again, Eight Ounce is fantastic) and went back to using my cheapo scale, which serves my purposes just as well at a fraction of the price. Acaia's apps could definitely use some work, too. In my opinion, unless budget simply isn't a concern, you'd be better off spending your money on upgrading the other components of your setup (e.g., grinder, gooseneck kettle).

This scale is a good size, big enough for a chemex to fit comfortably. It's really quick and precise. The only thing I would improve is the confusion within the many apps you can use to brew with it. If they made one "super app" to build all the functionalities, it would be even more awesome. That's the main reason I'm giving only 4 stars instead of 5.

Whether is be measuring beans for espresso or filtered coffee this is my go to scale. Super accurate and amazing response time.

The response time is great on this scale. A lot of other scales when you remove an item and place it back on shows a different weight as well. This one is consistent every time. Hoping to get more into the bluetooth features but so far really enjoying it.
