  • A TRUSTED CLASSIC RE-ENGINEERED FOR ESPRESSO

The Baratza Encore is the ultimate entry-level grinder for your craft coffee journey and is an essential item for every home coffee drinker. With the Encore ESP, Baratza has re-engineered the industry classic to be espresso-optimized, making high-resolution grinding simple, repeatable, and approachable. It's another way Baratza is making specialty coffee accessible for all.

Straightforward controls make your daily routine simple and easy. Grind for espresso with settings 1-20, with high-resolution micro steps that make dialing-in espresso a breeze. Use settings 21-40, with macro steps to increase grind size quickly for a grind quality suitable for filter and immersion brew methods. Load up your hopper with your favorite beans, switch the Baratza Encore ESP on and let the precision conical M2 burrs deliver consistent, quality ground coffee every time.

Manufactured in Europe, the Encore ESP's 40mm conical M2 steel burrs will grind for many styles of coffee. Conical burr grinders are exceptional at producing consistent grinds from very fine to very coarse as well as being durable and will remain sharp for many years. With unique speed control, the Encore ESP uses a combination of gear and electronic speed reduction to control the rotation of the burr to 550 RPM. This slow speed reduces heat, noise, and static generation in the grinder. It also ensures that the beans feed smoothly into the burrs.

Best bang for your buck

The baratza ESP encore has been one of the best purchases I’ve made in the world of coffee. The grind is very consistent and it’s easy to clean and maintain. My espresso quality has gotten much better since buying this grinder. I highly recommend it to anyone especially if you’re just getting into espressos.

Great grinder

Been using this for espresso along with the Breville Bambino. It's producing great results and is very easy to dial in espresso with.

Great, but a bit loud

A great grinder, but on the loud side. Really appreciate that Baratza makes replacement parts available, and that Eight Ounce carries them - not that I foresee needing them anytime soon.

Good Entry Level Work Horse

This grinder is an good way to be able to get basically any grind level. Great option if you don't know what brew style is your preferred yet and want to be able to try a bit of everything before buying a more specialized grinder. An important note is that it is very serviceable with lots of replacement parts available, so it makes for a great back up or letting those with a little less respect for your appliances use.

This grinder is not zero retention on grinds, something to consider if you are someone who likes to rotate coffees every cup, as it would require you to run some additional beans through, if you want to avoid blending coffees. Not much of an issue if you like to go through a bag at a time.

Great entry level espresso grinder

Really happy with this new grinder. Not sure how big of an upgrade it is from the original Encore in terms of grind quality, but the single dose cup fits nicely and just makes my workflow so much easier. The grind adjustment can get super fine too. I was really struggling to pull shots out for a medium-dark roast at 15 clicks, and eventually settled at 18 clicks (out of the first 20 clicks reserved for espresso).

A good grind, but with a retention problem

Getting into espresso, I needed a capable grinder. The Encore ESP fit the bill, it's at a good price midpoint price and it does a damn good espresso grind.

It's also fantastic for filter or aeropress brews. A great all-rounder.

Unfortunately, Baratza no longer provide repairs or servicing so long term maintenance of the grinder is potentially a little rocky, but spare parts are available.

The only other problem this grinder has is a bit of a retention problem. It could benefit from a bellows-top. After you finish grinding, you will usually find that you have to gently tap the sides to get it to spit the rest of the grounds out. This means that you are very often left with coffee grounds on the counter top surrounding the grinder.

Overall though, this is the grinder to get if you plan to start your espresso journey. Definitely recommend.
