BARATZA Sette™ 270 Coffee Grinder (120V)

A proper grinder was the missing link in getting the quality espresso we were looking for. Our new Baratza Sette has more than filled this void. A great grinder for the price! . . . and I thought the service was top tier!!!

I highly recommend this as a first grinder for newcomers to espresso. The grind quality and feature set is very good for the price.

Decent grinder but the coarse grind setting wasn't coarse enough for my needs.

It’s fast and grind size are consistent. However it’s very noisy. Any finer setting from coarse is not as ideal for pour over coffee. As for the price I would recommend it.

The customer service at 8 Ounce makes this my number one stop for any supplies. Outstanding. Very friendly and accommodating, and willing to educate a newcomer like me in the ways of coffee. Can't say enough good things about their customer service!

Love this grinder. The zero retention was my primary consideration in purchasing this. I lose only anywhere between 0.1 and 0.3 grams of coffee in the burrs. I'm only starting to play with various grinds, so haven't had the opportunity to fully exercise the range of grind sizes. I've mostly been using the pulse mode as opposed to the "timed" buttons as I weigh out my beans before grinding them.

Let's just hope that the quality of the grinder holds up over use.

Produces very fluffy grinds for espresso. Less static/mess than the Vario, but static can be minimized using the RDT method. The open design of the Sette 270 allows for minimum grind retention (0-0.2g in my experience), but makes it very loud. Grinding speed is fast. Unfortunately my Sette experiences the Adjustment Ring Drift problem, but I just hold the micro adjustment ring when grinding - not a deal breaker for me. Most importantly, grinds are consistent and dialing in for espresso is easy.

Good consistent grinds, the extra 200 for the WI version can be put towards a scale. Fluffy straight through grinder. Easy to set, and micro adjust grind settings.

For a grinder that is more tailored for entry level espresso being able to do pourover, and some basic espresso is a big plus.

Why I gave it 3 stars?

- Occasionally the machine gets pretty messy with the static generated. Because it is straight through the grinds fly straight back up onto the grinder, and everywhere else.

- Fines are a little off putting for pourover methods.
