easy repair you can do yourself!

I love my Sette 30, and after a good 6 years of use, the gearbox finally had enough. The mark of quality is that you can repair such things with original, quality replacement parts! My new part arrived very quickly, and it was so easy to do the work myself. The grinder works better than new, it is quieter, faster, and more consistent than it has been in years. Definitely, I recommend buying all your replacement parts from Eight Ounce!

Easy replacement of the gear set. But the gears are still plastic which means this will need to be replaced again in a couple of years.

Easy to do

Easy to install this gear and motor assembly. Baratza put a lot of thought into this grinder and making it very serviceable. Only one torx bit is required to take the whole thing apart. That said, the new assembly has the same plastic gears that the original one had, and so will wear out too in a year of home use (maybe 700 cups of coffee is what I got out of it). This really needs to be considered an annually or biannually replaceable part.

Which is a good thing as this part seems destined to take it's own life on a regular basis.

It's a 14,000 rpm motor geared down to something lower to drive the Burr grinder!- Why? When new it sounds like a jet engine, after a couple of years it sounds like a jet engine that has had a shovel full of gravel thrown in it. I have a pair of earmuffs sitting next to this machine that I wear when grinding my morning coffee.

I did notice they have added thread lock to the 4 screws that worked themselves loose on my machine.

Replacement part at a good price

Not much to review as it's a replacement part. Being in Canada I will say it was both faster and cheaper to get this part from Eight Ounce than to order directly from Baratza. Was an easy repair to swap out my broken gearbox/motor for this one and extremely happy to have my grinder working as good as new!
