There's obviously the stage of getting used to dose/grind size, but after you get used to it 👍🏼 I'm using Rao filters and an ode gen 2 with lab sweet burrs. Love the cups being made

I have a variety of brewers, but this is by far the easiest to use. Simple, takes very coarse coffee and brews a tasty cup. Doesn’t require a lot of fancy equipment. I plan to use it as an office brewer. Love the foolproof method and simple parts.

I have been using this now for about two weeks. I do enjoy an after dinner coffee but my wife does not so I have been making a single copy using an aeropress which is pretty easy to do. However, the hoop makes it simpler. I know nothing about over extraction, under extraction bitterness, acidity, astringency or any of those other buzz words. All I know is that I enjoy the coffee I get from the hoop and I love its simplicity and easy cleanup.

I grind coffee in the Hoop zone, using a Ceado E6C Chameleon grinder. Then it takes 12 minutes for a single c all cup of coffee. Which comes out lukewarm obviously. And tastes a bit like acidic warm water. It’s not bitter, but it really doesn’t bring out the depth, favours acidic notes far too much. Maybe this is the grinder. Either way, they don’t work well together -see my review of the grinder. Disappointing for $1,245 for the grinder and hoop. For pour over I’m going back to my $3 mellita funnel I got from Safeway.

Easy to use on busy mornings when I do not have the time to focus on using my v60. Would recommend getting Scott Rao's filters however.

After watching the James Hoffmann video I quickly purchased one to replace my aeropress. Makes a good cup of coffee without a lot of fuss, and helped me scale down on what I was packing when I travelled. Purchased a second unit for a family member, as they enjoyed it so much.

Easy brewer to work with!

Saw the brewer in a James Hoffmann video and immediately knew I wanted it. I’ve consistently struggled to get anything decent out of my V60 (skill issue I assume) so wanted something that is foolproof. This certainly ticks those boxes, it feels (almost) idiot-proof and has produced a nice cup each time.

I looked at buying this brewer in 2024 to replace my Aeropress. I regret not buying it sooner. As a coffee lover who wants to make good pour overs, but doesn't want to worry about my bloom or getting a smooth flow, the Hoop is great.

Loving it so far and wish I'd made the leap sooner.

Very finnicky, I've been having trouble dialing this in compared other brewers.
But this may be due to a skill issue...

The size is a bit larger than I expected, but that’s not a big deal as long as it can brew good coffee. However, it’s not as easy to control as I hoped. The water drains quite slowly, even after I adjusted the grind to be coarser, and the flavor turns out milder compared to other drippers like the V60 (tested with the same batch of beans).

This is a fun quick brewer if all you want is a rapid filtered brew. But the small dimensions, I think, make it a little too easy to mess up. If your ratios aren't precise you can end up with coffee washing out into the outer ring. It's a fun alternative to the Aeropress if you want to try something different, just be cautious and gentle. I also found that it doesn't fit nicely on all of my mugs. Actually brewing into a Pyrex measuring cup was easier.

Seems like a good easy brewer. Takes pouring style and unintentional agitation out of the equation. You still have other variables you can play with : Temperature, grind size, brew ratio maybe agitation after initial coffee wetting etc.
Kind of ideal for cafe use or when in a rush since you basically just pour your whole water amount at once and don't need to watch how it flows really.
It can use regular aeropress filters but may flow slower as a result. I hear you can also use a stainless mesh filter for aeropress but I haven't tried. The aeropress filters do seem slightly larger but paper ones still managed to fit.

I wish it was available in ceramic or stainless steel instead. A bit pricey for plastic but I got it on sale /using points. good deal that way.

Love it for when I'm tired and want a consistent cup without thinking too hard.

I have bought 3, 2 as gifts and have found them very consistent and simple to use, just leave it alone after adding the water. Extraction can be varied by H2O temp, coffee volume ,time and grind. Being consistent with your recipe will yield consistent results.

Super fast and easy way to brew a great coffee!

I was happy to see the option to get this with rewards! I got the teal one, and it's actually a pretty distinct colour. My other coffee friends made fun of be for breaking my all-black gear theme, but I didn't care! I also appreciate that these are made in Italy. As for actually use, it's easy to brew with and clean. The flow restriction means you have less variables to worry about - just pick your coffee, grind size, and whether you want to do a bloom. It can take a really long time to draw down (7-10 mins) depending on grind size. I like to grind finer for extraction purposes, but you want to be careful with this brewer. You may end up with grinds in the water chamber if you go too fine. The filters are okay, I haven't experimented with cutting different filters yet, but I will soon!

The cup is very consistent, which is the core of its design. And it tastes good.

This brewer is probably the easiest brewer I've ever used. Easier than aeropress. It's great for making a coffee to go while I'm running around and getting ready (I'm prone to forgetting to press my aeropress while rushing in the AM). It delivers super tasty coffee pretty much everytime, the one let down is the filters. They're quite slow and you have to go quite course to get it to draw down in a reasonable amount of time. Sometimes this leaves the brew tasting a touch under extracted. I'll be trying Scott Rao's filters when I need to re-up.

It's really easy to use the hoop wrong. Overfill, get the ratio a little wrong, or look at it funny and you can ruin your cup. Get it right though and the convenience is great, it's almost a match for the Aeropress. The Aeropress is quick, yet fiddly, whereas the hoop doesn't need to be fiddly at all. You can quickly bash out a decent cup.

But getting that ratio right on the first go is a pipe dream.

In terms of travel friendly, durability, and cup this is a rival to Aeropress. If your cup has a high handle the Hoop won't sit flat/level, but other than that I've really enjoyed using it and the cups it produces.

This is a great no-bypass brewer that delivers excellent results. The cups it brews are aromatic and intense, with great flavors and clarity. The Hoop delivers on a level that my Tricolate never lived up to. I am very pleased with the Hoop.

Brewer is really easy to use and looks great.
Makes it nice to only have to adjust grinds and ratio when dialing in.
