CLEVER Dripper

I'm a sucker for the V60 but some days I want a cup of coffee that doesn't ask much of me but still tastes amazing. The Clever offers that cup. It's a beautiful middle ground between French Press and V60 and delivers a solid comfort cup. It fits perfectly on my Hario carafe and clean up was a breeze.

Purchased for someone without a fancy coffee setup, and was so impressed with it that I bought one for myself. It has become a staple brewer even alongside my trusty v60

I’m the only one in our home that drinks coffee which means buying a huge machine is unnecessary. I’ve used Clever Dripper for years and only replaced it because I dropped it and it broke. It’s an excellent hybrid of pour over/French press I think and uses a #4 filter. Add grounds, water, wait a few mins and voila. Perfect cup every time and takes no space at all.

I have made a few cups with my new Clever, and every brew has been clean and tasty. I used a tweaked Hoffmann recipe that suits my beans, grinder, and taste. It works well with any standard kettle and feels robust enough for travel.

Makes a good cup of coffee, and is easy to use.

If you prefer an immersion style brew, it’s going to suit! I learned that this style of coffee isn’t my favourite.

I don’t really like functionality of having to place the brewer onto the cup so the coffee is released, so I prefer a more classic pour over brewer.

I love how I can change up the ways I can use the Clever. I went down rabbit hole and started trying the different grinds and timings suggested by various coffee experts and each time I get a great cup of coffee.

The clever will always have a special place in my history with coffee. Its simplicity yet versatility grew my understanding of coffee and what it can be. It let me experiment a figure out what I liked without pouring or any other variables inhibiting me. To this day it lives on my desk at work. I give them as gifts regularly.

Easy to use, I even use it to brew my tea.
More than a year later, the valve is working fine, a few leaks, but mostly fine!

I love how easy it is to make a coffee while still in my pre-coffee morning daze.

Takes pour over to the next level

My partner and I love the Clever Dripper for making an easy and predictable cup of coffee at home. But it's been especially nice to take with us on trips where we know there will be a kettle but none of the other tricks and tools we use.

I'm taking one star off because the one I ordered from Eight Ounce was a replacement for one I broke after dropping it from a not very high height.

Great brewer that is so easy to use and clean and makes great coffee! Efficient and does not require a gooseneck kettle to get the same coffee outcome.

Great brewer. I use the james hoffmann method, putting the boiling water in, then the coffee, stir, wait for 2 mins, stir again, wait for 30 secs, drain. Works great, and is easy to brew with. The workflow is mostly passive so it’s great for busy mornings. The cups are not as acidic and fruity as the ones from a V60, but are great nontheless.

This brewer unlocks the easiest way to brew delicious specialty coffee with consistent quality every single time. And you do not even need a gooseneck kettle!

I bought this as a gift for a family member who had been looking at a similar looking device without the valve. The valve adds functionality and versatility, and it works well. My mom likes immersion style coffee and this allows for something similar to a french press, but is much easier to clean up. I suppose you could also use it as a pour over if you placed the dripper directly on your mug or carafe.

This little gadget makes a great mug of coffee (check for the james hoffman ultimate clever video). It is consistent and reliable. The Clever is also the perfect workplace coffee companion. when selecting filters i find that the Kalita 103 filters are worth the extra coin.

I did some research online having decided to change my coffee methodology to pour over. Everything lead me to the Clever Dripper being a very efficient and forgiving starting point. The reviewers were not wrong. The price point is reasonable and it works as advertised. Recommend.

I have a V60 a French press an aeropress a mocha pot and now the clever. The clever in my opinion is the best of these. It has all the flavours and benefits of the immersion in the French press without the sludge. I like clean coffee. The volume of one brew is perfect for my morning coffee. It’s easy to use and clean. I love this thing!
