This wonderful dripper is made using the Hasami-yaki – meaning Hasami porcelain – method, a traditional porcelain crafting method that originated four centuries ago in the town of Hasami, in the Nagasaki prefecture of Japan. Hasami-yaki uses Amakusa-touseki for its characteristic pure-white colour. Amakusa-touseki is a special pottery clay that comes from the Amakusa Islands just off the west coast of the island of Kyushu.
Each Kalita Hasami Dripper is handcrafted by experienced artisans, and the level of craftsmanship shows when the dripper is held up to light. You can actually see light through the finished porcelain. A porcelain dripper that is perfectly lightweight, sturdy and durable.
The Kalita Hasami Dripper maintains the Kalita tradition of design, and features three drain holes and ribs to create a perfect air space between the filter and dripper. This time-tested, signature design ensures that Kalita's products always yield an extraordinary brew. The Hasami Dripper's design also allows it to sit sturdily on any server or mug. The bottom of the dripper is crafted with a beautifully-rendered outline of the Kalita logo and the “Made in Japan” seal.
