  • WAVE GOODBYE TO BAD COFFEE

The Kalita Wave is one of the finest Japanese pour over brewers available. Due to its flat bottom design, and controlled flow rate - due to to three small holes in the bottom of the brewer - you can expect a more consistent brew every time. The Wave filters also encourage consistency of brew by reducing contact with the side of the brewer, maintaining more temperature stability.

Found in top specialty cafes and used in professional competitions, the Kalita Wave allows you to brew your favourite coffee with fuller flavor and a more balanced extraction.

Customers praised this stainless steel dripper as "solid and durable" with excellent coffee results. Many found it beginner-friendly and more forgiving than V60, producing "balanced" and "full-bodied" flavor. The 155 size is perfect for single cups, while 185 handles larger brews. Customers appreciated its portability and easy cleanup, though some noted filter availability can be challenging.

Solid, durable, makes great coffee

When the Kalita Wave 155 arrived, I was surprised about its size. It's smaller than I thought! But it turns out that it is perfect for making one cup at a time, which is what I wanted. The stainless steel means it is solid and durable. No heating issues, just warm it before use. No clogging issues, just make sure not to grind too fine. Excellent coffee, easy cleanup!

Adventures with new coffee gear

Just tried the Kalita wave for the first time. Not as scary as I thought….pretty easy to use out of the box. Great tasting coffee with this new brew method. Can’t wait to use it for my 2 cup travel mug for work. I believe it’s going to be easier than my Aeropress. To be honest using the Kalita wave dripper tastes better.

Kalita 155

Wanted to switch from plastic brewers (so long Aeropress) and wasn't enjoying how inconsistent I was finding the V60 in the mornings. Bought this brewer in May with hesitance, as some reviews online talk about slow flow/drawn downs being an issue on the metal version of the Kalita. I've had no such issue so far, and I've found the taste to be excellent. Great flavour, consistent and quick (3 min) brews, easy clean up. Highly recommend!

Really beautiful brewer

It works great if you like some more body and all around balanced coffee. You definitely shouldn’t expect the most fruity, funky and tea-like results from it but it is very consistent and really easy to use from the beginning.

Love this little brewer

I’ve come to love the Kalita Wave 185. Paired up with a Fellow Ode Gen 2, it brews magic. I like how consistently I can make great coffee with this setup. I come from using a V60, which is another classic brewer. I find however the flow restriction of the Wave makes for a much more forgiving brewer compared to the V60. I have both the 185 for brewing two cups and the 155 for brewing a single cup.

Great little dripper!

It took me some time to come to love the Kalita Wave. I have the 155 and sadly it's hard to find paper filters for it these days. I think I had to get used to brewing with this dripper as I had used only ceramic drippers beforehand. After giving it a chance I love using it. This dripper reminds me of when I visited Japan and I stayed with a woman in her home and she hand made me a Kalita Wave coffee in the morning. Kalita is quite popular in Japan, as far as I could see it was the most popular dripper in cafés. Tip: to pre wet your filter, pour some hot water into the bottom of your filter paper and the water will soak up the sides of the filter, thus avoiding the dreaded filter collapse.

Pleasure to use

I’ve been brewing with the Kalita Wave for the past few days now and I love the results. The flavour is clean and full bodied. It’s a pleasure to use and will most likely become my daily driver. Fast shipping from Eight Ounce Coffee as well.

Beautiful round coffee

This may be the best way to make a cup of coffee! The flavour is much more round and full compared to other pour-overs I've tried. It has ruined me for coffee made any other way. Beautiful.

Perfect for me

I have only 1.5-2 cups of coffee a day, and it is just a perfect size for me. I struggled brewing on this dripper for a while to make a good coffee, but I figured out that it works well with a freshly roasted and ground coffee beans. I also like the fact that it is so light on the server made of glass.

Excellent dripper

I have the sandstone version as well, and find the coffee flows faster through the metal. Really happy with how my drip using this.

Novice-friendly dripper

This is my first dripper when I decide to try making pour-over coffee by myself. As many people suggest, this is a safe choice for novices. I succeeded with my first trial. The stainless-steel material is resistant and easy to clean. Highly recommend it to anyone who would like to start making pour-over coffee.

Perfect for traveling

I got this brewer specifically because, well, 1 it’s super durable and 2 it’s extremely portable.
This little brewer also has been one of my top favorites to brew with.
The coffee shop I worked at for 3+ years started out with Chemex pour overs, but quickly switched to the kalita wave for its price and durability.
Fantastic brewer! And Eight ounce coffee is a fantastic company to work with!

A perfect dripper

I have always wanted to try a Kalita Wave to see what the hype was about and decided to finally pull the trigger. This is my ideal method. The Kalita does a fantastic job at making a coffee that is still extremely well balanced, but really accents the sweetness and bright notes in a brew. The stainless steel is great to travel with--throw it in a bag and you have no worries what will happen to it. Really fun to use and easy to get the hang of once you find the right grind size for your preference. It's a beautiful cup of coffee in mere minutes.

The most steadily Dripper ever

This is a filter cup that does not require pour over skills at all. Because of the wave-shaped diversion of the filter paper and three Mini holes, the extraction will not be affected by the speed of water injection. It is very suitable for novices, really, easy to use

Excellent dripper

Love this thing! Was a long time V60 user, and I recently got this to experiment with. It brews a really nice sweet cup! I think I like it better than my V60. It also has the benefit of being relatively popular so it's unlikely to be hard to get filters like the stagg or some other more niche brewers.

Totally worth it

Superior Pour Over Experience

Recently ordered one of these to tide me over until Chemex filters come back. Have been using it the last week or so and enjoying the results it produces. It’s well-made and does what you’d expect - makes a nice, clean cup of pour over. Pleased with my decision to get the 185 over the 155. I typically brew with 400g water as I prefer a bigger cup of coffee. This fits nicely right on my mug and handles 400g of water with no issues.

As mentioned, I typically brew with a Chemex. My previous backup brew method was a generic ceramic pour over using Melitta No 4 filters, which I find gives a pretty poor result. The Kalita and its matching filters are infinitely better. I don’t enjoy it as much as my faithful Chemex but I suspect with a bit of fine-tuning and probably a grind adjustment I could get this tasting just as good.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for high-quality pour over. Hopefully the filters remain plentiful!

Truly the best flavoured coffee you can make at home!

I purchased this device a week ago. I wanted to start my pour over experience with an easier device then the Hario V60. (Believe me I went back and forth about getting it.) I ultimately landed on the wave 185. For the sake of size I went with the 185 to get more brewed cups out of this. I also purchased along with the wave the kalita wave glass 500 ml.

For size it will brew me 2 decent size mugs. Now back to the wave 185. I decided to give this a try after the several reviews on here and the ease of the brewing process with a flat bottomed pour over will distribute the coffee evenly a lot easier then the Hario V60 as I have heard the V60 is great if you are experienced with pour overs.

Now i have been recently using beans from Devils Head Coffee and adding 30 grams to the 500 ml measurement of the kalita glass. I find that if you are new to the brewing process to youtube some tutorials or even ask a local roastery how to get the best results by demonstrating it for you. I find with the measurements provided I have yielded amazing results. I have brewed several cups of delicious cups of coffee which has been rich in taste and gave me some of the besr cups of coffee I have ever had.

I highly recommend this product for anyone looking to enter into the pour over method of coffee making and avoid gettinf a cheap knock off on amazon to save money. I will update in due time if any problems with the device occur.
