Roughness and delicacy are the expressive elements of CERAMIC LAB. Developed by working closely with craftsmen in traditional pottery villages of Japan, it is a fresh interpretation of Japanese tableware for the modern lifestyle. Knowledge and skills were inherited to develop the product —from the proportion of clay and glaze, to the sensitive transformations while firing that depend on temperature and humidity. Featuring the warm textures of clay, the humble designs give comfort to the user.

Porcelain ceramic with an earthenware aesthetic, the 180ml (6oz) KINTO CERAMIC LAB Cup will inspire you to get cozy and savour your coffee. CERAMIC LAB balances delicacy, durability and the rustic charm of sandstone to form modern interpretation of traditional Japanese tableware. CERAMIC LAB uses a special local sandstone from where it's made, Hasami, a village with a long tradition of pottery craftsmanship. Customers praised this 180ml ceramic cup for its "beautiful" design, quality Japanese craftsmanship, and textured finish. Shoppers noted "doesn't leak" and appreciated the color options. However, several mentioned it runs "smaller than expected" despite the 180ml capacity. The cup gets "very hot" with freshly brewed beverages as it's not double-walled. Overall, highly recommended for its aesthetic appeal and affordability.

Aesthetic and useful sizing

These are nice pieces and come in nice finishes and useful sizing --- but just a note that they are not double walled and get very hot if you're drinking a freshly brewed pourover or an americano.

A beautiful cup

Been waiting for the white version to be restocked for ages! The cup is a bit smaller than I expected compared to the Kinto Nori, but it also holds 20 mL (10%) less. I really enjoy the finish; I expected the unglazed bottom bit to be rough in texture (similar to the Nori), but it's surprisingly smooth. The transition from the top coloured glaze to the bottom is also seamless. Again like the Nori, this cup can get pretty hot, so I'd recommend a beverage temp of 60-70C max to hold comfortably. That limitation aside, it's a really attractive cup that would be great for either coffee or tea.

My husband bought two of these for me as a Christmas gift, and we loved them so much we started offering them as options for our gift boxes on Etsy. We've bought A TON of them and they never disappoint.
