  • TAKE YOUR COFFEE TO THE NEXTLEVEL!

NextLevel have joined forces with coffee-obsessed, astrophysicist Jonathan Gagné, author of The Physics of Coffee and the Coffee Ad Astra blog, to help develop, the PULSAR™ Brewer.

By adding a variable flow-rate valve along with other improvements, Jonathan and the NextLevel team have improved on the innovative LVL-10 Brewer, to create the PULSAR.

Allowing for a longer, "steeped" bloom, the adjustable valve facilitates a more efficient prewetting of the coffee grounds. Combining flow-rate control with the "no bypass" design, the PULSAR Brewer allows you to couple immersion and percolation together in creative ways that are only limited by your skill and imagination.

    PULSAR Benefits

    Flow Control
The PULSAR brewer offers complete control over agitation and flow rate, and makes it easy to retain water during the blooming phase

    Diffused Pouring
Start a controlled brew with a uniform wetting of the grounds with the carefully designed dispersion cap

    High Versatility
The valve and the "no bypass" brewer design provide an unlimited number of possible combinations of immersion and percolation.

    No Water Bypass
Eliminate the unknown amount of water bypassing the coffee bed (Easily control the strength with brew ratio)

    Heat Retention
The combination of thermal stable plastic and dispersion cap give this brewer the advantage of higher slurry temps

    Steep-and-Release
    Perfect for simple 'steep-and-release' brews

    Tea Brewing
The ideal dripper for steep and release tea brewing, such as Gong-fu, a traditional Chinese method of making tea

nextlevel next level aeropress V60 hario bypass tricolate pourover brewer

Customers praised this versatile brewer for producing consistently great, flavorful coffee. "My hit rate for amazing coffee is 100%," one noted. Shoppers appreciated the hybrid infusion/percolation design and flexibility. Some mentioned concerns about filter seating issues, lock mechanism leaks, and base material quality. Learning curve exists but results are worth it.

Simplest way to brew consistently great drip coffee

Simplest way to brew consistently great drip coffee
Pulsar gives the same control as an Aeropress, but it's even easier to use, and the brew is closer to drip coffee
It took several brews to find the grind settings, but after that, every cup of coffee is consistently great.

Should've bought it sooner

My hit rate for amazing coffee is 100% so far on this brewer. Want high clarity? There's a way to get it. Really like body in your coffee? You can have that too. I love my V60 but this has become my daily driver for filter brews.

Really nice addition

Ordered this after seeing DAK use it in their tasting experience. It has been fun to use so far and brews great coffee.

Pulsar! Fun and consistent

After a couple of weeks of playing with the pulsar I’ve come to appreciate the hybrid nature of the brew. The combination of infusion and percolation allows a very flexible but consistent brew. The build of the device may need some improvements, I find after 3-4 uses the lock mechanism leaks a bit, no matter how I try you always get a couple of drops. Overall a fun new toy that allows a new perspective on your daily brew. Works great for both hot and iced brews.

90% awesome

Pretty much a no brainer, this dripper is by far the easiest one in my collection. It took a while to figure out the grind but we’re there now.

My only complaint is that a couple of times the filter has not seated properly and run a bunch of grounds through. I don’t think it was user error, but I guess it could be??

The filters can be a little expensive and the workflow isnt the best but I love the coffee this thing make its so consistent.

Neat addition.

While the aeropress is pretty straight forward and makes a great cup of coffee, this device has more potential, but with a steeper learning curve.

Full control is only as good as the end user.

This is gonna be fun...

Just had my first cup with this brewer and it made me the best decaf coffee I have ever had. The brew was smooth and full of flavour. To be fair, before this I had only had cheap auto drippers and recently been using an aeropress and a clever brewer. So this is really my first serious percolation brewer...

Anticipate lots of geeky fun in this tasty new hobby.

Easy Delicious

Great brewer! Easy to learn, even my first brew with the Pulsar was noticeably better tasting than the Origami i was coming from. I use my Pulsar most days now

My one concern is whether I'm cleaning the base of the brewer sufficiently, both in the grooves underneath and inside the valve

Excellent Brewer

I purchased this brewer from Eight Ounce about 8 months ago and it has replaced my Aeropress as my daily driver. It is a somewhat similar brewer, in that it is zero bypass and nearly infinitely flexible in its ability to let the user play around with brewing methods. At $90, it’s not cheap, especially compared to a plastic V60, but, it did allow me to brew a more “bright” V60-like cup than my Aeropress is really capable of without the cost of buying a proper gooseneck kettle. Nor the learning curve required to master the V60. In addition, its higher capacity make it a better home brewer for us. Recipes abound but I recommend ARAMSE’s YouTube video from about a year ago, as the three he offers will give a nice grounding. Plus he has a rather British sense of humour.

I should also note, cleaning is easy: Get rid of the filter and grounds. Throw in dishwasher. After 8 months of near daily use, no harm is apparent.

Taking your brews to the next level

Th brewer is so versatile and gives you control over everything. The coffees I have brewed so far were round and sweet with low acidity but there are tons of recipes to try and I am pretty sure it is capable of producing a nice acidity as well. The only complaint I have is the base material which feels kind of cheap.

Go coarser.

Have been experimenting with this new brewer. So far no bad cups though the ones with a coarser grind give a fuller flavor.

Best brewer ever, seriously

This is the best filter coffee brewer I've ever used, of any kind. The cups are consistent, sweet, bursting with flavor, and perfection can be achieved with less coffee than other methods, saving money on expensive beans. Wonderful product all around. It's even easy to clean!

Nice brewer

Well built and a really nice size. A good alternative to the switch or clever. The filters are fast flowing and the adjustable flow makes for almost infinite brews. Clean up is pretty good, just have to be careful when removing the cylinder. I don't think you can go wrong with this purchase.

Incredibly repeatable and delicious

The Pulsar makes it very easy to get extremely delicious and repeatable results. It’s better and more consistent than a V60 with about the same amount of fuss. Use the pocket science recipe https://pocketsciencecoffee.com/2023/10/01/how-to-brew-on-pulsar-coming-from-v60

Steve

Will you ever create the Pulsar in glass. Why you may ask? Because plastic that is heated can leach chemicals into the coffee, unless your Pulsar is BPA free. Please let me know. I would be willing to pay extra for an all glass one.
