From Nucleus Coffee Tools, Bloom is a brew bed preparation tool designed to improve extraction and flavour consistency for filter coffee.

Bloom takes the principle of the Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) even further, incorporating an advanced set of distribution needles to separate clumps, manage fines, and lift non-soluble materials in filter coffee beds – all before the first drop of water hits.

The Nucleus Bloom distribution tool helps to remove common issues in conical pour-overs, immersion drippers, flat-bed brewers, and more with a controlled and repeatable preparation process. With a satisfying and user-friendly design, Bloom is the perfect tool for beginner home baristas and professionals.

Three Functions, One Compact Design
With its sleek and transportable shape, the Nucleus Bloom is not much larger than your average WDT tool. Hidden inside are three unique functions, each one thoughtfully added by Nucleus Coffee Tools to create uniform density, remove insolubles, and promote optimal water flow.

1. Deep distribution for improved flavour distinction and sweetness.
• In only seconds, the Bloom Distribution Tool breaks up clumps and air pockets hidden deep within the coffee bed without generating static.
2. Surface refinement for cleaner tasting coffee.
• Bloom Distribution Tool incorporates a fanned needle configuration to gently sweep the coffee bed's surface, lifting chaff and other non-soluble materials.
3. FlowTip™ shaping for fully extracted, balanced flavours.
• The reverse side of the Nucleus Bloom can be used to gently press an indentation into the coffee bed, improving extraction consistency while evenly directing the flow of water.

Dual-Needle Configuration
With needle customization that exceeds other WDT and coffee distribution tools, Bloom offers either a straight or fanned configuration to either reach deep into the coffee bed or evenly sweep and level the surface. Plus, the needles can easily be removed or added, perfect for optimizing your Nucleus Bloom for any filter method.

• Straight needle mode:
• Best for small, conical brewers, Bloom's straight needle mode helps to redistribute grounds, break clumps, and keep fines from settling at the base (a common issue that causes choked or stalled pour-overs). The benefit is consistent brews and prevention of over-extracted, bitter coffee.
• Fan needle mode:
• The fan needle setting provides a static lift while leaving soluble ground coffee (i.e., the part you want) undisturbed. Instead, it brings chaff, boulders, and other undesired particles to the coffee bed's surface. The benefit is steadier draw down, improved flow rates, and cleaner-tasting coffee.

FlowTip™
On the reverse side of the Bloom is the FlowTip™. This small but revolutionary feature assists with the directional flow of water and thorough saturation of coffee grounds, leading to consistent results with every brew.
When you gently press the FlowTip™ into the center of your coffee bed before brewing, the resulting depression acts as a guide for your first pour. Water is guided into a central point and then gradually dispersed outwards, ensuring it interacts evenly with all coffee grounds. Plus, the FlowTip™ helps prevent C02 buildup, essential for maintaining a proper bloom cycle.
With this simple step, you enjoy consistent extraction, balanced flavours, and easier repeatability whether you’re dialling in a single coffee or multiple brews.
