HYBRID BREWING
The Suprima SD1 Coffee Dripper was designed as a bridge between professionals and beginners, requiring minimal technical skill to achieve a perfect brew. Created in collaboration with two-time Indonesia Brewers Cup Champion, Hiro Lesmana, the SD1 is designed with three key things in mind; consistency, repetition and durability.
The Suprima SD1 combines both percolation and immersion methods of brewing. During the initial pours, the flow rate is faster and extraction is closer to drip or percolation. However, later in the brewing process, the flow rate slows down and the extraction more closely approaches immersion. This combination of drip and immersion methods makes the brewing process more stable and reduces the likelihood of operational errors.
The interior of the SD1 is almost flat. When wet, the filter paper fits snugly, sticking to the walls of the dripper and greatly reducing channeling - a cause of inconsistent extraction. To allow for proper air flow, three slender channels are located inside the dripper, reducing the liklihood of the draw down "choking".
The exterior of the dripper has a series of concentric ribs, that improve the dripper's stability when placed on a variety of vessels of varying sizes. From cup to carafe, the SD1 will sit securely during the brewing process, reducing the risk of spills and splashes. In addition, its construction from food-grade polycarbonate in a range of stylish colours, means its durability and aesthetic appeal will last for many years, in both home and cafe environments.
