So far we are really enjoying our Moccamaster. We bought it to replace our Chemex, after deciding we wanted the option to brew coffee more quickly (or, at least, with less effort). The KBGT has been a great choice and the customer service at EO was great.

Moccamaster KBGT

Was using pour -over for all coffee but now with 3 kids needed a machine. This was the best option. For sure, costs more than other brands and at first I was going to take a pass, but then. after looking at a lot of reviews and videos, decided to go with this. The 5-year warranty was clearly tops. It makes a full pot of great coffee in about 6 minutes from clicking the button. Its easy enough to use my 8 year will make the coffee for us! Arrived in stated time frame well-protected in a tonne of packaging. My only feedback would be the actual carafe had a slightly wider top than the one in the picture but that is very minor.

It lasted under 4 years

(Rewriting this because of my fat finger typos): bought it in 2019, and it arrived broken. Replaced free of charge. Yay for 8 Ounce Coffee! And the machine brews fabulous coffee. But this morning it stopped working. Less than 4 years of use, once daily. I don't know coffee makers, but had hoped it would last a bit longer.

Perfect!

We love this machine! It’s beautiful, and well constructed, and it brews great coffee. It’s simple enough for anyone to use and very consistent, plus in a pinch it takes a standard filter size, which is helpful as there seemed to be a shortage of Kalita no4 filters, and the technivorm filters when I was looking.

Worth every penny!

This review was posted after a few weeks of use. This makes a gorgeous cup of coffee from a drip machine. It definitely is a big step up from my Cuisinart. I also tried using a re-useable metal mesh filter and the coffee still tastes lovely. I bought the Melita paper filters from here and yes, it does taste slightly different with a paper filter. I can see why people prefer paper. Cost per use, this is still a good deal. Clean up is easy. It has a very fast brewing time. The insulated jug is very effective at keeping the coffee hot for unexpectedly long times. Jug lip pours very well and no drips when you stop pouring. No automatic morning start.

Great coffee maker

The coffee maker is great, now that we've had a chance to use it for a while, 5 stars for the Moccamaster KBGT. The experience in the store was unfortunately a circus that took nearly 1.5 hours. One of the display models they had was an old version of the same coffee maker so we couldn't properly compare models. Not a huge deal. The first staff member to help us was able to answer some questions about equipment (but got the pot size completely wrong, he tried to show us an 8-cup but it was actually a 4-cup, which was clearly printed on the front of the machine, ok whatever) and then said he needed to leave to go on his lunch break. I understand this happening at a fast food joint, but at a specialty coffee equipment shop I was a little disappointed that the lunch break was more important than selling us $500 worth of equipment, but ok fine, no big deal, these are insignificant things. The person he passed us off to was actually so oblivious we questioned whether he actually worked there. He couldn't tell us a single thing about the equipment. Then once we decided what we wanted there was trouble figuring out which coffee machine we actually wanted from the inventory list (that took 3 staff members to figure out). While we waited for that to unfold we ordered coffee from the cafe. They forgot about about my pour over which ended up sitting there for 10 minutes. We also wanted to order filters for our new coffee maker so we did that. The employee took forever to get them from the warehouse and came back with the completely wrong ones (and didn't seem to connect the dots that the filters we wanted to purchase were for the coffee maker they just helped us purchase - you could see from 10 feet away that they were the wrong gigantic flat bottom size). They went back to find the correct ones and came back with with the correct size but the wrong brand according to the ones we asked for, but at that point we gave up and just took them. None of these things on their own would warrant a second thought, but all of them together added up to a pretty irritating experience. I truly wanted to support a small local company but unfortunately this made me wish I had ordered from Amazon. They must be a wholesaler that happens to have a retail/cafe component because there is no other way this cafe could be profitable with so many staff on the floor, no other apparent customers, and such disorganized operations. Yikes.
