Customers praised this coffee maker for producing "great full-body coffee" with excellent taste and easy one-button operation. The machine brews quickly (6 minutes), stays quiet, and is simple to clean. The thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for hours. One shopper noted the design feels less user-friendly than standard makers, with non-hinged covers and more acidic taste, though most found it "worth every penny."

The GOAT of One Touch

I’ve been using my KBT Moccamaster for just over a month now. It replaced the Bonavita 10-cup Connoisseur I was using for the last 5 years. This KBT is brewing the most balanced batch of coffee from an electric brewer I’ve ever had. Super simple workflow, but the flow control is a nice bonus. Even the thermal carafe is an upgrade. No complaints really.

I like it a lot!

I enjoy the Moccamaster for the following reasons. It makes great coffee very quickly and allows me to control the flooding of coffee at the beginning of the brew. It's has a coffee catcher with a tube on it which I feel mixes the coffee strength better than most other coffee machines. The coffee carafe pours well and maintains coffee temperature for a few hours.
If I had a complaint it would be that the carafe is glass lined and not full stainless steal.

So Simple and So Good

Really enjoying the simplicity and the flavour. Easy to set up, use and clean, and it makes excellent coffee too. Especially like the glass-lined carafe.

Kind of chintzy, to be honest.

I kind of had my doubts about Moccamaster, but with the generally glowing reviews I pulled the trigger during a decent sale.

I'm no coffee snob, but I love good coffee, and wondered if a unit that met the "golden cup standard" would make even better tasting coffee than my old maker (which is supposed to meet the standard, but actually falls short temperature-wise).

The Moccamaster brews much faster than my old unit and has no bloom phase (I didn't know about this prior to ordering - I assumed it would have a bloom phase). The coffee taste profile is also somewhat different (more acidic), and I prefer the taste of the coffee brewed from my old unit.

Also to consider is that none of the covers are hinged, so it's much less user friendly than a standard coffee maker; you have to physically lift off both the filter cover and the reservoir cover, to load the filter and fill with water. It tends to get water droplets wherever I temporarily set the covers, which is annoying for cleanup. The covers and filter housing are also very light plastic and feel cheap. Pouring water into the reservoir is also more difficult, since the water outlet arm blocks of part of the reservoir, unlike other more standard coffee makers; if you hit the arm with the flow, it'll cause water to fly all over, and will also direct cold water to run into the filter housing area.

There’s one other annoying aspect I didn’t consider prior to ordering the unit. If you want to brew directly into a travel mug rather than the carafe, you have to find a way to depress the little white button at the front of the unit so the coffee will brew. Again, it’s just another quirk of the coffee maker that you can’t disable, and have to work around.

As an engineer and very practical hands-on person, it's a real head-scratcher to me why this unit is so highly rated - it's not a user-friendly design at all, and in my opinion the coffee is makes is subpar. From other reviews, I don't doubt that the unit will function well for years, but we've moved beyond this kind of outdated design.

Overall, I'm not impressed considering the cost of the unit, even on a decent sale.

Love it! Wish we had bought it earlier

I’ve used department store automatic coffee machines and progressed to various pour overs/ french press/ Aeropress. We finally bought a Technivorm KBT so that we could easily make coffee if guests were over, and for the convenience in the morning (push the button and go). Chose this model as it is designed to brew smaller batches or larger batches by adjusting a switch on the brew basket. You can also play with the bloom time by closing the switch on the brew basket, but I’ve found the coffee is excellent brewed just as is. Technivorm makes great coffee (as good as our pour overs) and does it quickly and very consistently. The stainless steel carafe is glass lined, and keeps the coffee hot (we usually finish coffee within an hour). The criticisms I have are small: the carafe does not easily empty the last of the coffee (small amount) and one must make sure the switch on the brew basket is not closed when brewing or it could overflow. This hasn’t happened yet as we usually don’t close the switch. One note is the cups are smaller than standard cups - to make two 8 ounce cups of coffee we use the 4 cup measurement. We don’t anticipate it will be a problem when we have company over as if we need more coffee, it is very quick and easy to brew. We wish we had bought the Technivorm earlier as it met and exceeded all our expectations.

Fantastic Coffee Maker

I've lost count of how many $100 coffee makers I've gone through over the years including Ninja, Braun, Cuisinart etc. I was getting really good, locally roasted coffee and was getting very inconsistent coffee. While doing the research I saw a YouTube video review by America's Test Kitchen that talked about how important it was for a coffee maker to get to the right temperature. When the water isn't hot enough the coffee really is terrible. The Moccamaster has what is a very precise copper heating coil that brings the water to the right temperature. Even cheaper beans that are freshly ground make amazing coffee. It is a very simple system that works. The carafe is fantastic and vacuum seals the coffee so that it stays hot. It pours slowly, but without spilling. Reading the reviews it sounds like this coffee maker will last a long time and will be cheaper in the long run than buying a cheaper one every couple of years.

Technivorm Moccamaster for life!!!

Thoroughly impressed and worth every penny!! Best auto brewer we’ve had. Easy to use and easy to clean. Constant even heat and near silent quick cycle. Second in flavour and depth only to my small batch pour overs. Thanks again Eight Ounce!!!

A dream to use compared to my past coffee makers

In the past I have had coffee makers that beeped loudly, were hard to clean, didn’t keep coffee warm for more than an hour and didn’t wet all the grounds.

The Technivorm doesn’t beep, actual doesn’t emit noticeable noise, makes coffee in about 6 minutes, can be used to make between two and ten cups and is absolutely a dream to clean. Grounds are saturated and coffee in the carafe stays warm for over 3 hours. Most of all the coffee taste is satisfying. Definitely worth the price difference from cheaper coffee makers.

Luvin' it.

Discouraged by our 'smart' brewer that failed a couple of months after the warranty expired I decided the best brewer would be one that's well made and one that stuck to the basics - add some coffee, add some water, switch it on, switch if off, pour. Whatever Technivorm's secret is it works. Couldn't be happier. :)

What is the difference between this ( am on the KBT 741 page) and the KBGT 741? What does the extra thirteen dollars get you?

Eight Ounce Coffee

Hey Brian!

Thanks for your question. The main differences between these two is that the filter basket is slightly different and the KBGT has auto stop and auto pre-infusion function.
