We're Hosting the 2021 Canadian AeroPress Championship
Dianne Eclar

The World AeroPress Championship is back this year with an online version of the coffee-making competition. Rather than gathering competitors to brew their recipes in front of an audience, entrants will be able to sign up online and have the official competition coffee shipped to them. From the safety of their home, office, or café, they will create an AeroPress recipe for the most delicious cup possible using the supplied coffee. They will then submit their recipe for judging, and the highest-scoring competitor will be recognized as the 2021 Canadian AeroPress Champion!

Want to know more before signing up? Read the official rules below!

RULE #1
The brewer used must be a genuine AeroPress. No other brewer may be used in the drink preparation.

RULE #2
All three parts of a genuine AeroPress brewer must be used; the chamber, the plunger, and the filter cap. Aftermarket or non-genuine parts are not allowed.

RULE #3
Any of the following filters can be used for the recipe, so long as it does not replace the filter cap itself: Standard AeroPress Microfilters, Aesir Paper Filters (Version 2), Able Disk Standard Metal Filter, Able Disk Fine Metal Filter, or CoffeeSock Aeropress Disk Filters.

RULE #4
Ground coffee and water are the only ingredients allowed.

RULE #5
Only the official competition coffee may be used. (The official coffee will be selected by a panel of judges across the country and announced on the 17th of August.)

RULE #6
Competitors may use a maximum of 18g of roasted coffee in their recipe.

RULE #7
Competitors must prepare a minimum of 150ml of brewed coffee.

RULE #8
Coffees not presented within the time limit of 5 minutes will not be evaluated.

RULE #9
Failure to comply with any of the above may result in disqualification.
