BARATZA Encore™ Coffee Grinder (120V)

Bought this for my daughter as requested. She absolutely loves the size; different grinds and how quiet it is. It was very pricey but she’s confident it will last many years.

As someone new to the world of coffee who was used to using a super cheap hand grinder, this grinder has significantly improved my experience. Easy setup and easy to use. Turns out all the reviews I've read about the Baratza Encore being a great entry-level grinder are true!

This is one great little grinder! It's a bit loud, but the grind is super consistent. A bit messy due the the static, but that's unavoidable. Hopefully they sell/will sell a borosilicate catch for the grind coffee, that will probably help a lot with that issue. As well, I love how every part is replaceable - embrace the fix-it-yourself culture 🙂

So far after only a week of using it's the best grinder I've had. It works! It may not be the quietest but no grinder is quiet. It has a good size hopper and grind reservoir, it is super clean (almost no grinds fall out) when removing the reservoir daily compared to other grinders. It's tall which works for our counter, but narrow which is great because it takes up a small counter footprint.

A little noisy and the hopper rattles a little but overall amazing build and consistent grind.

Definitely one of the best-in-class for the price point. Does everything but espresso machine grind and does it well. Easy to set up, clean, and maintain.

Once assembled this grinder performs very well. Only issues are trying to get that gasket on, my advice is to order an extra.

I’m on year 3 with this grinder and happy to report that it still works as well as the first day I got it. It does the job, haven’t had any issues with it. The price is affordable as it’s the entry level Baratza. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the machine design could be nicer looking (in my humble opinion). Overall, I would recommend this machine to anyone who enjoys making coffee and doesn’t want to spend too much.

Why did I use the $20 blade grinder I bought when I was in university for decades instead of buying a proper burr grinder? This is so much more and convenient and the beans I can now afford deserve it!

What I think: so glad you asked. Consistent grind, easy to adjust, affordably priced, and very approachable. There is some static at the end which can leave the finer particulates sticking to the collection apparatus like an over dried running shirt, but not a huge issue. With a static spray it could keep the mess away. I will have to try that next (or get better running shirts).

Coming from using a hand grinder for the last 8 years this has been a gift from above. Encore. Encore!

I am sad to say I am one of the people who always wanted an expensive grinder, but couldn't justify the upfront costs and continued to purchase subpar grinders every 8-16 months (amounting to well over the total I spent on the Encore). Learn from my mistake and just get the quality one off the hop. I was torn between this and some of the other higher end options, but from what I could tell, this was a solid grinder for the money and should have no long term quality concerns.

This thing is awesome. It looks slick on the counter, the hopper fits nicely right on my scale for weighing out my beans with ease. I will say, I can definitely appreciate the reviews that have suggested this might not be the best option for grinding espresso beans, but I have used it twice today playing with the grind size for both a pour over and a drip machine and I am very content with both.

Showed up very well packaged and protected, being in the transportation industry myself, I appreciate the steps that were taken to ensure there was no delivery drama.

Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to start down the coffee rabbit hole.

Decided to write this review 6 months into using this grinder and I have to say, it’s absolutely worth it. So easy to use, grinds my beans evenly, and makes me look forward to waking up every morning. Only downside is how loud it is.

Great quality and grinds consistently. It doesn't have any features aside from go and pulse but if you are weighing and single dosing your beans then you won't really need any. The unit is built to last with replacement parts readily available from many sources and service options. I have been thrilled with this purchase so far. I've lurked on the edge of quality, more time intensive, pricier coffee for many years and getting a good grinder has been a game changer for french press and pour over when coupled with an accurate (to 0.1g) scale.

I've been eyeing this item since before, and had the chance last month to buy it. I am doing espresso coffees daily twice . And i can really say it gives me a best shot of espresso with its settings, tho it is made for brewing coffees, i can also use it for espresso! I highly recommend this one!

I wish I could say more but I have only had the grinder for about 2 weeks now. Not much can go wrong in that time. Service was great , very prompt . Grinder was packaged as if it was going to go for a ride down a mountain , impossible to damage it in freight unless it was run over by the truck or a forklift in the warehouse. Seems to be a well made unit. I do not have need for anything more than a good quality grinder that can go from course to fine and be consistent and durable. Check back in a few years and I will be able to provide a better review.

You can’t get much better of a grinder for the price

Great grinder. Super easy to setup and use. I appreciate good ol’ analog controls over LED touchscreens. Minor nitpicking is that it can be difficult to clean the inside where the burr is attached.
