Customers praised this manual coffee grinder for producing "consistent grind" and being "easy to use and clean." The stainless steel construction feels sturdy and portable, ideal for travel. Most found it "smooth" and efficient, though some noted the handle grip could be improved for smaller hands and grinding takes 1-2 minutes of manual effort. Settings may need adjustment from recommendations.

Simple design easy to use

Really love this grider, very quiet and easy to use. Pretty quick at grinding beans. Love the design, and the box it comes in can be a great display piece. Overall really happy with this purchase and if someone I know is looking for manual grinder this is the one I'll recommend.

Porlex Tall Grinder II

My first experience with a manual grinder for my pour-overs. Overall, very satisfied by its build quality and ease of assembly/disassembly. Great size if you are travelling with it, or simply grinding coffee beans at home.

I bought this as a Christmas gift. So I can't review it myself. Our oldest suggested this for her boyfriend & said he will be excited when he opens it! Very sturdy!

Amazing

Light weight, efficient and takes half the time to grind my beans as my old hand mill.

A Worthwhile Upgrade!

I started roasting my own beans, mostly out of boredom during the first wave of Covid. However, after nearly two years, I'm hooked!

I've been using this grinder for about a week now, and it brings home roasted coffee to a whole new level. Incredibly even grind, that can be finely tuned to suit the needs of your preferred brewing method. It definitely makes the morning ritual more peaceful without the noise of the electric blade grinder.

It is also light weight, and compact, meaning that it'll fit nicely into a backpack for camping, fishing, and hunting trips.

My only real compliant is that the handle is made for people with incredibly tiny hands, making it a little difficult to get a proper grip on the knob. At some point, I'll have to drill out the rivet, and replace the knob with something a little bigger, but I can make do until it's a little warmer out in the garage.

Excellent grinder, well made, grinds smoothly, consistently and much quicker than other grinders I have used

Consistent grind size

Very consistent grind size. Grinder is well made. Burrs are easy to clean. Be aware that it does take a bit of time to grind by hand. I usually grind about 27-30g of coffee and it takes well over a minute. Very satisfied overall!

Pretty and Practical

I switched from a Hario Skerton Plus to this and I have been thoroughly enjoying the grinding experience with this one. It's easy to transport, set up, and clean up when done. The stainless steel material and the heft makes the grinder feel extra special and definitely worth its price. The design of the nut which allows the grinder to stand upright when disassembled is a nice bonus.

My complaint with this grinder is that it doesn't come with the grippy rubber handle-holder. Although it's sold as a separate piece for the Tall grinder, as it comes with the Mini grinder, I have smaller hands so it's hard for me to maintain a strong grip for long.

All in all, a great piece to own.

Porlex Tall II

Easy to use and assemble/dissemble. Because the container is metal, you can’t see how fine/coarse the coffee is unless you take it apart. But that’s not a big problem. It works very well.

Great manual grinder

Have been using it since arrival every day without issue. Arrived decently fast (1 week), can't complain since was free shipping. Can't compare to others since this is my first manual grinder, but I believe, based on solid research, that is the best choice on price vs performance ratio. Looking forward to validate its durability, hopping for 10+ years. Happy grinding to all :)

Great!

Works well. Feels solid. Looks nice.

My only complaint is shipping with Canada Post was delayed multiple times.

Much better than an electric grinder!

This is my first burr grinder ever. Even though it can be a little work on the wrist to grind your morning coffee with Porlex Tall Grinder II, it is worth the effort. The first couple of times it was harder but it became smoother overtime to grind. The grind consistency is pretty good, however, the grinding levels are not accurate. I have to use level 18 for a pour-over which is higher than what the instruction recommends. But not a biggie, you'll figure it out soon.

Couldn't be happier

The ordering and delivery was smooth and prompt. So far I've used this grinder for Aeropress, Mocha pot and Chemex brewers and couldn't be happier with the results. To my eyes - very consistent grind size. Easy cranking too. I've seen others mention that it's hard going and takes a long time but for me it's only taken about 1 minute and required almost no effort. Finer grind sizes did take a bit longer but the only really noticeable change for me was the sound the grinder makes as I crank.

Great quality grinder

Perfect customer service, the staff is extremely knowledgeable and take all the time to answer questions in every single detail as well as advice on a best suitable product.
Very fast shipping with tracking, all overall an extremely pleasant experience.
The grinder itself is very sturdy and easy to use and clean, real Japanese product. Setting a level is a piece of cake.
Not as cute looks wise as some similar products, the stainless steel could have been polished for a nicer appearance, but the quality is great. Lifetime keeper.
Big thanks to the team, not very common to have such an amazing service those days.

Great tool for this coffee newbie

I was recently gifted some nice beans and didn't have a grinder. After some research and deciding to buy something something of quality without breaking the bank I settled on this model. Great decision!

This grinder is lightweight, but sturdy. I generally use either a French press or an aeropress. So my needs are fairly simple in that I don't need fine grounds like are required for espresso. The grind setting step screw is very easy to use. This grinder can really chew through beans too and doesn't require much strength to use; although it does need some stamina. It's easy to clean and holds up to 35 grams of beans without issue.

You need that

This porlex is amazing.

I bought one of these last year and it was simply perfect. I brought it with me to work to have my own coffee to brew in my Aeropress and it has survived so much throughout the year. I've been buying these as gifts for friends for Christmas because they purchased an Aeropress and this is the perfect addition.

Fun to use!

I’m learning about coffee and I have to say, this grinder has made a difference in terms of what my coffee tastes like. Easy to use, great aesthetic and I get fresh ground coffee !!

No Regret

Good grinder than my current one, very consistent grinds. Easy to maintain, blur grinds can be taken out for regular cleaning.
Stainless steel material so grinds won't stick on its surface like plastic one. Would be nice if this tall grind have the plastic holder like the porlex mini so the handle can be kept it in place.

Works Well!

Good quality product. Love having freshly ground coffee for our espresso machine - fresh ground is noticeably better than store bought pre-ground. Very happy with this grinder and is not a part of my morning routine.

Very satisfied

A great hand grinder for preparing my daily espresso or latte in my very modest Breville machine. Easy to use and clean, and a marked improvement in flavour right off the bat. Plus, it opens the door to further experiments with different brewing methods. Totally worth the money!
