Weber does it again!

This is for someone that understands that you are paying a significant premium in price in order to fully enjoy the material, craftsmanship, and the coffee making experience. The coffee in a cup may not taste any better than other cups using much cheaper tools, but I really look forward to making a coffee with this every morning.

A Different take on immersion.

TLDR; The Bird brewer is delightful. It brews a good cup of coffee, cleans up easily, and it looks nice on the counter.

If aesthetics don't matter to you, if you want an absolutely revelatory new take on coffee brewing, or if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a brewer, you should look elsewhere.

The unit itself is very nicely machined, finished, packaged, and presented. It feels like a quality piece of gear that was thoughtfully designed. It cleans easily (more easily than my Frieling french press anyways) and doesn't take up much space on the counter.

You'll probably have a bit of trial and error getting the right grind size for your preferred ratios and times, but that is par for the course for any new piece of gear you get at first. The coffee it brews is pretty tasty once you get things tuned in. Not as clear and separated as some other methods, but it has a good mouth feel when using just the steel filter. There are still some fines at the bottom of the carafe when not using the paper filters, but I prefer the overall taste and experience of using just the steel filter.

If you enjoy using nicely made novel items that produce good coffee, you should get one.
