TIMEMORE Sculptor 078 Brew Grinder (120V)

Nice upgrade from my Fellow Ode Gen 1. I wanted some finer control over my pour over grinds, and the Timemore 78 delivers. The turbo burrs have been excellent so far. The fines collection works really well in concert with the rotary knocker. Plus, it is MUCH quieter. That’s actually worth a lot at 7am. It’s a bit pricier than other options - but not out of line at all, I feel it was worth it.

Consistently excellent pourover cups, and the workflow is simple and smooth.

Terrible materials broke as soon as it opened to clean.

The grinder is a-okay for filter. I found the stock hopper to be abysmal, the coffee produced can have astringency pretty easy despite it being a slightly blendy&juicy profile forward.

I made the mistake of ordering a v60 at a local coffee shop and realized how bad my at-home pour over was in comparison.

I ordered the 078 after reading the hype about clarity and juicy cups and to my unrefined palate it delivers.

Pros: Great coffee, much quieter than my old grinder, magnets are super satisfying
Cons: Been drinking too much coffee and now have an anxiety issue

I wanted to add a dedicated filter grinder and after a bit of research this one (Time More 078) seemed to fit the bill pretty well. It was shipped quick via FedEx and arrived undamaged as it was well packed. After a coupledays use and finding a good grind setting I am making better coffee than I was on my Lagom P64 with multipurpose burrs. It did stall a couple times when I first started using lightly roasted beans and a lower RPM. I’ve upped the RPM and no issues. I got the black version and it matches my P64 very well. I could have bought it elsewhere but Eight Ounce has the best service.

Having made the arguably lateral upgrade from the Niche Zero, I can say that the difference is night and day - far less fines, vibrant acidity, and juicy sweetness in the cup. The build quality is generally great, with a much more robust feel than the Niche, and certainly more than a Fellow Ode. My one complaint is somewhat wobbly power button, which occasionally requires more than one push to register input (it's possible this is a defect in my particular unit, as I haven't seen this complaint elsewhere). The rotary knocker is decidedly heterodox in a world where every other manufacturer is incorporating plasma generators, but in my opinion in works as advertised - brew a cup with just the chaff from the knocker and you'll see what I mean. One word of warning to those coming from a Niche: the process of cleaning the burrs and grind chamber is much more involved. It's not particularly difficult, but it is a multistep process involving several pins, hex keys and screws - and the necessary hex key is NOT included with purchase. For me it's worth the notably superior cup quality, but your milage may vary. Overall, an excellent grinder for pour-over coffee that, in my opinion, should be considered the reference point for it's category and price range.

After spending several months with the Timemore Sculptor 078 (Brewing Model), I can confidently say it’s one of the most satisfying investments I’ve made in over 15 years of home coffee brewing. Transitioning from hand grinders to this electric powerhouse was a major step, and one I don’t regret for a second.

The grind quality is simply exceptional. Compared to my previous hand grinders, the improvement in particle size consistency is immediately noticeable. The clarity and flavor in my brews have reached a new level—clean, vibrant, and balanced in every cup.

One of the features I appreciate the most is the adjustable RPM (800–1400), which gives me great control over the grind and lets me experiment more deeply with different brew methods. The single-dose workflow, along with the magnetic catch cup and rotary knocker, makes the entire process smooth and enjoyable. It’s clear that every detail has been thoughtfully designed with the user in mind.

I also gave the grinder a deep clean after two months of use, and it was surprisingly easy to disassemble and reassemble. As someone who loves to understand the mechanics of things, I found it very satisfying to look inside and see how the machine works.

Yes, there are minor quirks, like the occasional bean catching in the hopper and a slightly flimsy power button, but these are negligible compared to the overall performance and experience.

The Sculptor 078 is not only beautifully built and solid but also a true performer, especially for filter coffee lovers. It brings precision, consistency, and a touch of elegance to every brew. For anyone serious about coffee and considering the move to a high-end electric grinder, I can’t recommend it enough.

I upgraded to this from a Gen 1 Ode with SSP MP burrs and my experience with the 078 has been a stark contrast.

The 078 presents and incredible clean and clear cup but without the astringency that MP Burrs often creates. I default to the 078 at 6 with the lowest RMP and it just constantly creates really good pour over. The fines catcher is brilliant and adds to the enjoyability of workflow.

The hopper does have some issues with pop-corning, but if you cold start it you can eliminate that. Excellent build quality and impressive grind uniformity (and alignment).

Pretty good grinder! I noticed a big difference between this and a k-max.

My pour overs have been taken to the next level with this grinder. A bit pricey but well worth the money when comparing it against other similar quality grinders.
