Gabi B is the Master!

This clever showerhead device from South Korea that fits on top of my Kalita (or V-60) is giving me far better performance than hand-pouring directly into the grounds, and has eliminated "stalling" caused by hydrophobic coffees and fines. Unlike the Melodrip showerhead which requires you to manually hold the device at a consistent height while rotating the device over the coffee grounds and pouring water into the device simultaneously, the Gabi B fixes the height on the top of the filter container (Kalita, V60) and just requires water poured into the center chamber and outer chamber in intervals like you normally do for a pour-over. It produces a soft rain-drop pour that every coffee seems to respond to well. This is most welcome if you're pouring an exotic/exclusive coffee and don't want to waste your money on dialing in your pour.
One tip: it seems to work best to pour your bloom manually, then finish the pouring with the Gabi B.
This is my second Gabi B as I gifted the first one to a friend who was travelling overseas. The first one did seem to have some holes that needed a pin push thru to open, but the new one from Eight Once works perfectly.

Great for a Tricolate imitation with the aeropress

Works well for a no bypass percolation dripper. It does not provide sufficient agitation for normal pour overs to achieve optimal extraction though.

Amazing tool.

This is an amazing tool similar to the melodrip to experiment with low agitation brews. I notice alot more clarity and even extractions using this during the final pours of my pourovers.

Great!

This is everything I had hoped the Melodrip would be. Perfect flat bed every time, and no fussing about. Love it.

Pretty good...(I think)

I'm a relative pourover newbie and using this seems to have helped me achieve a good extraction with my KW185. But... I still can't be 100% certain.
Comes with a cute little bag which is a nice promotional touch but completely useless for me as the GDM usually sits inside my kalita brewer when they're not in use.

fooled around and fell in love.

When I began using Gabi b I was confused on how it was designed to operate. It seemed to be dripping too slow. It looked to me like some of the holes were plugged. I took a pin needle and used it to open the holes that seemed to need to be widened. I got a flow rate that was faster but then I had to grind finer. I use a goose neck kettle for the bloom. When using a V-60, I put the filter in, rinse it and scissor cut the rim so that it will wrap around the dripper edge. This will prevent the filter from losing it's conical shape when the gabi is laid on it. I had to experiment to get my draw down to where I like it but I've finally been able to consistently brew the best tasting coffee I've ever gotten from my Hario and Kalita. I would have given it a five star rating but for the same price, get an aeropress instead.
