  • The "i" in 270Wi stands for intelligence - the grinder now quickly calculates and predicts the stop point when you change your grind setting, beans, or dose weight. This eliminates the need to adjust the offset. The new 270Wi maximizes its built-in Acaia high precision scale by filtering unpredicted vibrations that could affect dosing accuracy, such as door closures, footsteps, unsteady surfaces. A new "quick burst" feature allows you to add small increments of coffee to your final dose after the grinder has stopped. Software updates can be installed wirelessly via the integrated Bluetooth, using an Apple phone or tablet.

This grinder was designed using the weighing technology of Acaia, giving precise and accurate weight based dosing, with the revolutionary ability to grind by weight directly into a portafilter, a first for the home espresso enthusiast! In addition, the 270W comes with Bluetooth capabilities designed to monitor, log and track grind sessions, weights and settings. A tool specifically made for the Sette for use by home enthusiasts, coffee shop and the barista.

The Sette has a macro/micro adjust for grind size, as well as 3 programmable settings for dosing. These combined features offers the user incredible repeatability. A built-in convertible holder allows you to grind directly into your portafilter, the supplied grounds bin, or most of the popular brewing devices (Hario, Clever, Able Kone, AeroPress) – a standout feature amongst all other home grinders.

Recent versions of the Sette 270W are upward compatible to the Sette 270Wi, by purchasing and installing the new 270Wi Display panel and then updating the software via an Acaia App.

For best results, be sure to update the software during installation using the Acaia App as directed in the instructions.

Eight Ounce Coffee is Great!

We found Eight Ounce Coffee's website when looking for a Baratza grinder. We'd had a less than stellar experience with another online company so we were cautious about ordering one from 8-Ounce. Our call was answered promptly and the associate was very nice, took the time to explain things to us, confirmed stock was available and explained how to place our order online. No pressure at all. We placed our order and within 24 hours we received notice the Baratza 270wi had shipped. It arrived in 3 days in perfect condition and we've been enjoying it ever since.

Eight Ounce Coffee provided excellent customer service throughout our dealings with them and have absolutely no reservations in buying from them again.

One small quibble is that the associate told us to make a smaller purchase on the website which would entitle us to a 10% (IIRC) discount on the next purchase. We did that but the limit for the discount is $500.00 and our grinder cost more than that so we didn't get the discount. The $500 limit was clearly printed on the e-voucher but we didn't see that until we'd made the initial purchase. The associate was new to the company and likely didn't know about the limit.

Works as advertised

Love it. Using it for 1 month and has really helped my espresso shots. Fluffy grind every time and the built in scale makes consistency easy. Dialed in my shots pretty darn quick. If you’re single dosing it can be a bit messy with grinds for some reason.

Great grinder

I’m loving the consistency of the grind, coupled with the built in scale it makes pulling good shots every time a breeze.

Pulling much better shots

I've used it for about a month so far. It's great for dialling in your shots and getting more of the flavor out of the beans.

BEST grinder on the market, until you spend twice as much.

As the title says, this is a seriously good value and only a grinder of twice the price such as my (Rocket Fausto) will be better, and still... mine doesn't have weight grinding which is far more useful than time-based in my opinion. I bought this as a gift to my mom for the incredible value but also incredible simplicity, as I know it's clearly not my mom that would have taken care of weighting her espresso precisely every time, so that grinder take care of the job by itself without also requiring a separate 300$ Lunar scale. Sure I would knock a star for it being SUPER loud, all plastic construction and the fact you CAN'T replace the burrs but I gotta consider the price too and nothing comes close to this value. As the other reviewer said, at least it grinds really fast so you won't suffer the noise for too long but trust me it's gonna surprise you the first time heh. It took very few shots also to auto-calibrate and I love that you can either set custom preset or grind on demand too, so I've did (10g, 15g, 20g) for all 3 portafilter she has. One important thing to know though, is to NEVER touch the handle or anything while it's grinding as it uses the handle to calculate the weight so the grinder will be all confused and/or stops if you move it while it grinds. Once you know that, it works way better.

So Messy

It grinds great, does everything as expected. However, it sends grinds everywhere. Its a disaster in terms of keeping clean and so much watse.

Hard to beat espresso grind quality and features at this price.

This grinder has great grind quality and consistency at espresso settings. The weight based dosing is accurate and consistent after it calibrates itself. Grinding straight into the basket with very little clumping is a huge improvement on other grinders I have used in the past. I don't think there is a grinder that beats the Sette 270 line for espresso in this price range.

The reasons this grinder doesn't get 5 stars:
-Massive amount of fines at coarser settings. If the grinder was advertised as espresso only this wouldn't bother me, but it is marketed as an all around grinder and in my opinion falls short on anything but espresso, even with the BG burr.
-Bluetooth functionality is currently lacking. Apparently it works with the Brewbar app (iPad only) but I have had no success using it with brewmaster or the acaia app on android. I would imagine in the future these apps will be refined. To be fair this isn't a great loss since this grinder isn't great for pour over anyway.
-Loud. This is well known and necessary to keep the price reasonable. It does grind very fast, so it is only loud for a short period of time. Still something worth mentioning in case it won't work in your home.
