Rooftop - Tenenga

Tenenga means "it's our own" and is a producers association of 220 smallholder farmers in the Waghi Valley's surrounding mountains. Jiwaka Coffee, founded by Emma Wakpi, a native of the Western Highlands coffee-growing region, milled and exported this honey-processed coffee. Observing that farmers mainly treated coffee as a basic cash crop and received low prices, Emma established Jiwaka Coffee. The goal was to enhance farmers' market access and coffee quality. Jiwaka not only purchases and exports coffee but also offers resources to enhance farm management, harvesting, budgeting, and accounting. In 2018, Jiwaka established a processing mill within the coffee-growing villages, overcoming the challenge of distant washing stations.
