Tasting Notes: Star anise, Dark fudge, Verbena

Manhattan Coffee Roasters is excited to introduce the final installment of their exclusive Finca El Paraiso coffee series, named after Diego's son, Samuel Jr. This unique Caturra Chiroso coffee variety, born from genetic mutations in Colombia's Antioquia mountains, thrives in cold, low-light conditions, boasting an enhanced flavor profile due to increased monoterpenes. The meticulous processing at El Paraiso includes ripe cherry picking, ozonated water washing, and a two-stage fermentation with special microorganisms, all before a thermal shock treatment. Innovative drying technology preserves its quality. Samuel Jr. offers an explosive coffee experience, challenging coffee norms, with tasting notes of star anise, dark fudge, and verbena.

Chocolatey licorice

Different than his other coffees that can have more fruit notes. Nice body.

Unique

As with most of the other collaborations between Manhattan and Diego Samuel Bermudez, this coffee is truly unique. Complex and rich in flavor but ultimately too heavy on the anise notes for me to want to revisit it again. But if you love licorice, these are the beans for you.
