Rooftop - Nano Genji: Washed, Ethiopia (340g)
This coffee hails from the Nano Genji washing station in Agaro, Jimma. It embodies the typical profile of a washed Ethiopian coffee with its crisp, clean stone fruit acidity, honey sweetness, and delicate floral aromatics. Rooftop Roasters suggests enjoying it over ice, perhaps with a dash of blackcurrant syrup for an adventurous twist. Nano Genji owes its existence to the USAID's transformative TechnoServe project, which aimed to enhance coffee quality and prices in the region. Previously, coffee from this area was blended and lacked quality. Thanks to the project's business and quality control training and the establishment of washing stations like Nano Genji, the region's coffee quality drastically improved. The Kata Muduga Cooperatives Union played a pivotal role in streamlining operations and increasing prices for cooperatives, ultimately benefitting growers. As a result, Kata Muduga's influence and membership have expanded, necessitating the construction of new washing stations.
